Hmmm ... Where I live, no room without windows can be designated as a bedroom (or a place where someone sleeps). I assume this is so people can have a possible escape in case of fire. Apparently California doesn't have this regulation?
In any case, this screams " death trap" to me.

That was my first thought when I heard about these dorms. I wouldn't feel safe because if I ever needed to get out of the room there's no window. I am also someone who is affected by winter's grey skies. Seasonal disorders are very common where I live so I can't imagine how fun this would be. Never to have light in your room. No thanks.

I lived in a place where the bedroom only had a north-facing window. Large window. It got plenty of light, technically. But it was so hard to wake up because there were no south-facing windows in the whole place. I can't imagine having no windows at all.

And they're in California, where earthquakes can happen. Better hope the emergency lights actually work if/when the power gets cut off during a quake.
