Not to dig up a 4-month old thread, but I've not been on here for months - I've switched to SDN after graduating.
How did you do all prereqs in 1 year? As I understand, you have to take Chem 1, 2 and Orgo 1,2 in that order, taking 4 semesters.
27 MCAT isn't shabby - way to go
On a personal note, if anyone is interested, I am itching for August 29th for my fall semester to start at University at Buffalo, where the first of my three necessary premed semesters starts. Hello Biology & Physics. I'm also now a volly firefighter and EMT at the local fire department, where I get hands-on EMT fun nearly everyday and am shadowing a DO at the local hospital. I have 3 M.D.s, 2 D.O., 1 professor and the fire chief willing to give me LORs, and will likely pick up another prof. over the next couple semesters. With any fortune I will take the MCAT in the spring of '13 and have my goals set on LECOM erie (D.O school).
With grades north of B's and a MCAT in the high 20's, low 30's, I believe I can become a TESC grad to make it into the arena.
So do I! That's terrific, every now and again see if you can come back and update. I'll be crossing my fingers for you

It has been a while.
answering to the question how did I do my prerequisites in 1 year :
i started in spring semester with
- bio 1
-chem 1
-orgo 1
-physics 1
I had to go and ask for permission form the dean for orgo but luckily he said ok . I had 3 A and 1 B (orgo)
During summer i took orgo 2 (A)
during fall i took
- bio 2
- chem 2
- phys 2 ( I withdrawn from this one because i did not like the teachers style.
Currently I am applying to PA schools ( because there is a bridge program for PA-DO) , as well as DO schools and still finishing my BA at Excelsior.
In my cc I am taking AP 2 and Biochemistry and Statistics ,
Still have to take physics 2 and Eng 2 in the spring ,
Hey Jennifer I am also from Illinois.

I'm dying to see this unfold!! I'm in the Quad Cities, north, but if you're in the south, you absolutely 100 percent have to apply to Southern IL University (M.D. program) the only take IL people, and generally not Chicago, they heavily prefer mid-lower states. I actually went down there for a tour- very nice!
Ok, so on another note, I'm stunned- literally- stunned at your rockin science schedule in the spring. Crap! That's 16/17 science credits with labs?!?! Amazing. Your grades were amazing too. Very, very impressed. Keep going!!!!!!

Hello;
I just want to follow up on my previous threads. Back in November I applied to few Osteopathic schools and just recently I received 2 interview invites. Went to one so far and .....
Well, today I received official letter of admission into Lincoln Memorial University DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine !!!!!
Starting in August I am going to be medical student!
Still finishing 2 classes towards my bachelor in liberal arts ( and one exam) .
I want to say to all fellow test takers - if You have a dream - just follow it ! and do not let anybody say that something is impossible !
Impossible for a first generation emigrant to get to graduate school? Well it took me 9 years since coming to US to learn English, and finish all classes( even more than required) , but it is possible. Was it easy ? not at all. When I was doing my LPN school, there was a time that I was homeless for 6 months. January to July of 2006, and this winter was called, believe me, I remember it well while sleeping in my car, studying at Starbucks , taking showers at my work(nursing home) or at 24 hour fitness club. I had 2 bags in my trunk - one with clean clothes and one with dirty clothes, all my books were on back sit) But t was "do or die" for me.
Later on my current father in law let me sleep at his home.
Impossible to get to medical school after Excelsior? well I just proved it it is possible !!!!
Good luck everybody and thanks for all advices.

The osteopathic schools tend to have a more holistic way of judging applicants than allopathic schools.

Ok, so now the grit-where did you apply, who was the other interview? Did you hear back from them yet? Did you apply to Southern Illinois? Tell, tell, tell!!
And, did you ever tell the goons at SDN about your EC degree? I bet they all told you not to even bother Priceless.
