Hi, i intend to take a few mathematic credit courses, namely Discreet maths,College algebra,Calculus I,II and III.Can anyone recommend me the cheapest way i can do this?
i was looking at a few site CalCampus looks attractive anyway of checking if they are really accredited?
(intend to transfer these and other to Umass or Florida State U .

I mean the CHEAPEST way would be to test out of them. I know you can CLEP College algebra, Calculus I and Calculus II. Not sure about the others. Also, check to make sure either of the universities you want to transfer to accept CLEP. They should, but better to double check.

If you're concerned about the transferability of CLEP, you could do credit by exam from Ohio University for $74 / quarter credit (Ohio University Course Credit by Examination) for everything except discrete math. For prep, you could use some combination of ALEKS at $20 / month and Thinkwell at $125 per course.

I chose LSU for Calculus I and II because of the combination of good price (about $150 per credit) and reasonable number of lessons (24) and exams (2). After I enrolled, I found out the exams are 4 hours long (yikes!).

I would be interested in knowing what path you decide to take for these.

Also, just curious, what is your goal for these courses?

I'm guessing computer science? Not many takers for Discrete Math.

Depending on your choice of course, you might also take a look at MIT OpenCourseWare when you get to calculus -- MIT OpenCourseWare | Mathematics | 18.01SC Single Variable Calculus, Fall 2010 | Home. It doesn't offer credit, but it's a terrific (and free) complement to independent study.

Check in with Geezer, he floats around here from time to time. One of his sons got a CS degree from TESC. Not easy, you have to jump through hoops and find courses to take, but it's doable.
