Math 105 on ALEKS for TESU BALS degree - CarpeDiem8 - 06-25-2017 Hey guys, Having trouble finding the ALEKS equivalency for TESU's "MAT-105: Applied Liberal Arts Mathematics". Is it Intermediate Algebra? Thanks! Math 105 on ALEKS for TESU BALS degree - dfrecore - 06-25-2017 They aren't equivalent. Applied Math is MAT-105, Intermediate Algebra is MAT-115. If you want to take ALEKS math for the lowest level available for your degree, then Int. Alg is the one you want to take. So if I understand correctly then, if you pass Intermediate Algebra on ALEKS and use it for a BALS degree, it will reflect MAT-115 on transcript, correct? I would get moving if I were you, ACE-recommendation ends on 6/30. You need to finish by then. Math 105 on ALEKS for TESU BALS degree - CarpeDiem8 - 06-25-2017 Yeah, I'm going to have to consider other options, I may need to take classes at CC. Looks like Study.com has "Math 97: Introduction to Mathematical Reasoning" to fulfill TESU's MAT-105, however, it's only 2 credits. You get better value for your money. Unless you need a letter grade, and more learning time, I would go this route vs the CC way. How much is it a credit at your local CC? Honestly, I thought Intermediate Algebra was fairly easy, and MAT-105 had a lot of the same concepts (I took the TECEP). If I were you, I would just try Int Algebra. It's only $20 and you don't have anything to lose. If you do end up taking the Study.com course, the 2cr course should work in that area, and you'll get a waiver for the other credit, to be taken in Gen Ed Electives. At least, that's how the 2cr Ethics course works. Math 105 on ALEKS for TESU BALS degree - bjcheung77 - 06-25-2017 CarpeDiem8 Wrote:$99.00 per credit. So, for a 3 credit math course, it'll cost you $297. I will highly recommend taking the ALEKS courses as it "will most likely" get extended again. Unless of course, they renew their recommendation with ACE, it'll be a 3-5 years for the renewal. It's $20 and non-proctored. I finished 5 courses in one month, but crashed badly for two months of Stats. I went with Stats at Straighterline, failed Intro to Stats (65%). I took Straighterline Business Stats and got 85% instead. All of this combined cost me $20/$40/$25/$59 (already had membership for SL). Three of the 5 courses at ALEKS will be credited by TESU and the Business Stats from SL. That's 12 credits for under $200. Math 105 on ALEKS for TESU BALS degree - CarpeDiem8 - 06-25-2017 ALEKS question: If I complete the pie at the Intermediate Algebra level, will the next knowledge check be for the "learned" modules or everything? Also, what is the process to gain the 70% get credit? Is it another assessment? Thanks! |
