Managerial Accounting Question?
#1
Hello everyone.

I hope this is not a dumb question but if it is....I don't care!!!!hilarious You all love me anyway!!!(smile)

I was wondering...is Financial Management the same as Managerial Accounting? My stepdad gave me some of his old textbooks from 500 B.C and I was wondering if I can use them to prepare for my Managerial Accounting Course coming up!!!!!!!!

*Introduction to Financial Management (2nd edition) by B.J. Campsey & Eugene F. Brigham

*Contemporary Financial Management (6th edition) by R. Charles Moyer, James R. McGuigan, & William J. Kretlow

Thanks in advance for your help.

HI Marhsall,

See my response to your PM. I am not (by far!) an accounting/finance major, but to answer your question at a high level...no they are not the same altho' IMO you need a basic understanding of Managerial Accounting (day to day accounting acitivites) in order to do Financial Accounting (preparing and interpreting Financial Statements (Income Statement/Balance Sheet, Cash Flow etc).

In my POF exam specific feedback I identify a book:

"If you're clueless about accounting and finance and want to know more"

Amazon.com: If You're Clueless About Accounting and Finance and Want to Know More: Seth Godin: Books

It's an awesome book for the corporate financially uninitiated (like me)!

It tells you in plain English what it's all about and it does it in a small sized book of less than 200 pages (vs a full-sized, 900-page school text book!). You can always use the 900-pager for reference but I love this little book cos' it speaks to me in a language I can understand! I found it at a local bookstore and used a coupon.
