I took my English Composition CLEP this morning, and it was tougher than I thought. I'll find out in about six weeks how I did. A good portion of the test (about 50%) dealt with paragraphs that had about 6-8 questions each. The questions were worded like, "Choose the answer that best sums up sentences 4,5,and 6". Also stuff like, "What is the main idea that the author was trying to direct to the reader". I wasn't prepared for these type of questions. I really wish that IC had some of these type of questions available on the website, so I wouldn't have been blindsided. I had been studying IC for the last couple of weeks, here and there, and felt very confident before taking the test. I'm probably going to be biting my nails until I get my results.

What a hoot!
I too took the English Composition with essay exam this morning at 9am. This is the first exam that I have taken where I have to wait for the results...and it sucks!!!
I spoke with someone from the College Board and they told me that if the exam was done prior to the 14th that I should have the results by the end of the month. So I guess my wait won't be too bad.
I didn't do IC for this exam. I did a brief review from the Cracking the CLEP Guide and took the sample test in the Official CLEP Study Guide, 18th edition. I scored 37 right out of 49 on the practice test.
My main concern was not the questions themselves but just the timing. It seemed like I was looking at the clock every 45 seconds!!! It was so nerve racking. As soon as the test directions popped up, I looked at the time and it was already on 44 minutes! I was like--what the hell?!?!?!
My essay question wasn't too bad but it took forever for me to get my thoughts together. I was just trying to make sure it flowed right. I had 2 paragraphs to go (last body paragraph & conclusion) with only 8 minutes left!!! I did get a chance to review my essay for mistakes but ran out of time to go over my conclusion.
Overall, I think the English Composition with essay was a 5 on a scale of 1 to 10. I think the only con to this test is the time. I believe they should allow at least 60 minutes for Section 1 and 45 minutes for the essay. I think that would be more fair than what's in place now. But that's just my opinion.
I can't wait for my score to come so I can know for sure if I passed. I was thinking on my way home from the testing center that that would be so funny if I failed my English Composition with essay CLEP ( a subject I'm moderately well-versed in) and passed my Financial Accounting CLEP (which I knew nothing about, studied, and passed with a 53!!!) Wouldn't that be a hoot!!! I'm pretty sure I passed though. I just get paranoid sometimes and I won't be ok until I get my freakin' results!!!
