Looking to relocate somewhere hot

TrailRunr Wrote:Rosarito and Ensenada have San Diego weather and very cheap compared to San Diego. If you want to save even more, move to Tijuana. TJ is not as violent as US mass media would lead you to believe as long as you stay away from drugs. If you need a job in San Diego, you will want Sentri or your commute will be unbearable.

If you really need year round pool weather, you need to move closer to the equator.

My friend told me I should move closer to the sun lol. I don't need to be in the water, I just like to lay by the pool and close my eyes for a couple of hours a day. I was hoping for a place with 60's 70's in December/January and warmer thereafter. I guess maybe just convert one of my Florida rentals into a part time residence a year from Nov through March and see if I can rent it out the rest of the year furnished.

The problem with that is that everyone else wants to be there Nov-March too. Who wants to rent a place from March-Nov, and then move just as it's getting cold everywhere else??

I suggest one of those screened in porches...

Or, moving closer to the sun, that might work too...Wink

Yuma is NOT beautiful, that's for sure.

It's also in the middle of nowhere. If you need to fly somewhere, do you want to drive 3 hours to Phoenix, or 3 hours to San Diego?

I vote that you go further East on I-8, until it merges with I-10, and pick somewhere else. Tucson, El Paso, San Antonio...

Yuma also doesn't have much of a job market, if you're concerned about that.

I'm not looking for employment, I found that places that have notoriously low wages make a great place to live as going out for a few beers is cheaper. I'm also not looking for the extreme either like economically depressed Detroit. I just spent two months in Colorado fixing a rental the flooded, I may drive through Arizona on my way back just to check out the place a little.

Since there was a strong vote for Arizona, I would encourage you to check out Vail Arizona. It's on the backside of Tuscon (small town) and growing. My brother is a Captain (fire) out there and he loves it. Great housing, cost of living and plenty of pool days to go around.

Atenas CR during the dry season. I would think Costa Rica is closer to Vegas than Florida is. Relatively cheap, and friendly people in general.

Even down in Latin America, closer to the equator, the weather doesn't like to cooperate. We are about to enter the rainy season where I am which means tropical rains and flooding until about November. Now it won't rain every single day, but it will the majority. It may be in the 80s or 90s all year, but you still can't use the pool whenever you want.

If/when we move back to the USA, Arizona is very high atop our list as we vacationed out there about ten years ago and LOVED it. We are from New Jersey but have no desire to return there or the surrounding area. I can't/won't go back to the cold weather after living here for 5 years.

Costa Rica is beautiful and cheap compared to the USA. But it is expensive compared to other countries in the area. A lot of people around me are talking about Ecuador as the new hot spot. First, it was Costa Rica, then Panama, then Colombia, now Ecuador. I don't know how true that is or how nice Ecuador is, but that's the place gringos around me are talking about now for it's cost of living and quality.

Sorry, I meant to hit "reply with quote"
