Looking for some advice before applying to TESC/TESU

Can't go through all pages, what's your major?

In the past, the Insurance Ethics course used to transfer in as PHI-379, but then it was changed to PHI-384 (which is the same equivalency for StraighterLine) once it was re-evaluated. What course is currently being used for your Ethics credit?

It used to register as something else but in recent months they've been accepting it as a business ethics class unfortunately

I'm taking both, or rather I should say, I took the first and am taking the final for the second on Saturday. The comm course was ludicrously easy. There's some memorization of nonsense stuff that you'll forget minutes after reading it. I highly recommend paying for the course with the ebook, as having it available to search through with ctrl-F during the exams is priceless. I was nervous about the youtube videos because the instructions seemed rather strict. Before taking them I was pacing around in my garage practicing.

I don't know if that helped or not, but I passed the course with a 93%, and my scores on the three youtube videos were 100, 97 and 97. I thought I was going to do much worse on those. If I caught myself saying "um" or any other filler more than once, I stopped the recording and started over. I certainly would have done worse if doing it live was a requirement. Wink

How long did it take them to grade your videos? I have until October 10th to get everything postmarked from Straighterline to TESU so I can then apply for graduation. Hoping I make it. Just cleared Survey of Western History final, Microbio, World Rel, and Business finals all scheduled for next week. Just need to do two more speeches and schedule that final.

Did anybody actually have to meet with an advisor one final time before applying for graduation?

Unfortunately I can't tell exactly nor remember for certain; I took this course back in February, and while I can see when I submitted my video links to SL, it doesn't tell me when they were graded. If memory serves I believe the first two were pretty quick, taking a day or two, but I seem to remember the last one taking 4 or 5 days.

FYI The deadline for Dec graduation is October 1st, not the 10th. Thomas Edison State University: Graduation Information

Did you get special permission to extend it?

For your sake I hope I've missed something important about you getting the application deadline extended!

I met with an advisor. She just told me everything looked good. If you are sure about your credits, it isn't necessary, IMHO.

You should apply for graduation now. TESU will audit your credits some time in mid October. If you don't have all your credits in, they will notify you and schedule a second audit for early November. "Postmarks" have nothing to do with anything. TESU either has your credits in hand when they do the audit or they don't. Once you've sent your SL transcript in, email the registrar and let them know that it's on the way, and that you're trying to graduate in Dec. That will speed up processing of your transcript.

Alright, everything should be good. For the record I meant my enrollment renewal deadline. Not a problem. I finished everything today and submitted to ACE, they should recognize tomorrow and I can have them email my transcript to registrar who said they will get my creds added to transcript quickly in time for the audit. Still glad I took all of your advice. I applied for December graduation, missed deadline by 2 hours but still within deadline PST. I paid for it and have a receipt saying it was for the December graduation so it looks good.

Now a job search, eventually I might go after an MBA at WGU in a year or two but for now a break from education. I want to thank this forum for all its assistance this past year.

I received my letters, turns out I earned an Associates degree I didn't realize I was eligible for. An Associates in Natural Science and Mathematics with an Option in Computer Science, alongside my Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science. 3.88 GPA. I finished October 5th. The relief I feel and the lack of stress is a ridiculous difference.

Thanks for this forum everybody, I thought I'd never finish my degree and had given up for a year before finally seeking out these Online options to better accommodate my work schedule. Took me seven years off & on, paying out of pocket and working but no debt and two degrees. I can live with it. In the middle of my job search now, wish me luck, I have a feeling it won't be the easiest!

Congrats!!!!

How did you earn a degree you didn't know you were eligible for? Don't you have to apply for it and ask them to use the credits for it?

Congratulations!! You should start an "i'm finished" thread- people are always encouraged by such news, yours is on page 9 ;( and might not get noticed.

How long did American Gov't take? Proctored exam? Did you take easy quizzes that off set the 0 on the Final Exam? Thanks for your insight.

Archer Wrote:Thanks for that.

I just effectively finished American Government on Straighterline, I like the format of these classes. Even if I somehow ended up with 0% on the final my overall grade would just fall to 72%, so I'd still qualify for ACE. Might just schedule it and not even use flash cards on the final so that I can move on to that Business Ethics course I'm taking.

After this I'm intending to take Intro to Religion to finish off Information Literacy and Cultural Anthropology for my Diversity credit. Bummer that communications course doesn't fill the public speaking requirement.
