Hi my name is Zach.
I've recently joined these forums and begun my standardized testing journey. So far, I've manage to clep out of algebra, precalculus, sociology, psychology, and college composition. I am attempting all of these exams so that I can transfer the credits to my college (University of Alaska Fairbanks) in order to save some money and more importantly.. Time.
UAF seems to offer something that's rather uncommon. They will give 1 class worth of foreign language credit for a score of only 39. 2 classes for 50. 3 for 55. And 4 for 60.
I took a year of German way back, 5 years ago. I remember none of it. However, I feel that achieving a score of 39 might be possible just by plain guessing. For example picking B or C for every answer.
I'm not looking to throw around money... But if there's a reasonable possibility that I could get a 39 purely by chance. I think the risk to reward ratio might just be too tempting.
I'm curious as to thoughts anyone has about this idea, and if anyone has attempted something similar.
Always looking to take one step forward.

Try it and let us know. Not much to lose. Plus you might remember your German once you get started. Maybe brush up with duolingo for a week or two.

The German pass rate is sheet I have shows 79% which is pretty solid. Here's my suggestion, spend a little time over on Duolingo's free website for German. You can refresh the basics and like Suzanne said, you don't have much to lose.

I'm currently studying for the Spanish clep, on which I actually need a 50 for the necessary credits. So... Sadly I think I'm gonna have to pass on studying for German much at all.
I'm trying to take the calculus 1 clep either tomorrow or the day after. When I go in for that I guess I'll just take German and hit all B and see what happens. I'll be sure to let everyone know how it went lol.

Alright. So I took calculus clep and German clep today.
On the German exam I literally answered B on every question. I needed a 39. Got a 37 banghead
But I got a 68 on calc which was the important one so not too bad I guess.

German? Yes it was all multiple choice. However, about 50% of the test is listening portions.

How many questions is it? How much was dative, nominative, accusative, genitive? The reason why I'm asking is Rio Salado will give 16 credits for a 60 which means a language certificate for me.

Nevermind it is 120 questions.
