Thanks for the informative thread.  LSAC requires transcripts to be sent from both the degree granting college i.e. Excelsior and the non traditional course providers such as sophia, davar, etc.  If the Excelsior transcript records the courses from the providers as P/F and the provider transcript records letter grades along with gpa, how will it be recorded LSAC?  Will they include these courses when calculating gpa or not?

Law School Admission Council will look at everything as a package, they'll know these are transfer credits just like how the National Student Clearing House will do so as well. Essentially, any GPA will show up as external for each institution you do not attend, you can't expect and should not expect them to see any alternative credit to have any GPA associated with them as all of them are going to be pass/fail and just alternative credit to the classes taken.

So, I understand that you are saying that if my sophia or davar transcript has a C and that course shows as a P on my excelsior transcript, 3 credits of 2.0 grade points will not be calculated into the gpa at LSAC.  Is that correct?

Hi,

I'm hoping to get a solid confirmation regarding how LSAC calculates GPA.  I understand that LSAC requires transcripts to be sent from both the degree granting college i.e. Excelsior and from the non traditional course providers such as sophia, davar, etc.  If the Excelsior transcript records the courses from the providers as Pass/Fail and the provider transcript records letter grades and gpa, how will it be calculated at LSAC?  Will they include these courses when calculating gpa or not?

For example, if my sophia or davar transcript shows a letter grade of C for algebra, and after transferring that course to Excelsior, the Excelsior transcript records a Pass for algebra, do 2.0 grade point for the C get averaged into the gpa based on the sophia/davar grade or does it not affect the gpa based on the Excelsior score of pass?

Thanks.

I'm still hoping to get a solid confirmation for this, because I don't want C grades from NCCRS or ACE to ruin my GPA at LSAC. Anybody?

Wait for a reply from... LSAC directly, it's best to get an answer from them...
