I am an adult learner who has done well in the business world, and I am going to move forward with an Interdisciplinary Studies B.S. with areas of study in Business & Communications.

So, that means you'll continue with Liberty University Online and get an Interdisciplinary Studies B.S? If you can transfer in the max credits, it's not a bad deal since you already should have enough (or more) for residency credits. You should technically be able to transfer in the remaining credits as long as you're able to find the equivalent classes to take from ACE or acceptable options.

Sorry for the confusion BJ, i was asking the OP about their Liberty experience and they asked me some questions about my plans to give me a more nuanced opinion.

That response was simply my reply to them.

There's no RA credit limit at TESU, You can transfer in 114 RA credits if you wish. There is a 90cr limit from community colleges, maybe that's what you were thinking of?

OP,

Do you intend to sit the CPA exam? If so, you might want to have a plan for the extra 30 credits needed as well. In some states, you can fulfill those with ACE credits, so long as you get them onto a college transcript. That can be done easily at TESU, just by making sure you stay enrolled long enough to complete them and send them in.

Just reread your post and saw you aren't planning on being a CPA. I'll leave the above in case others find it useful.

Thank you for the info! Yeah, I’m not planning on taking the CPA exams now, but it’s good to know that TESU would work well if I decide to go the CPA route later on.

Thank you all for the helpful suggestions and feedback! I’ve decided to apply to both TESU and UMPI and see how my credits will fall into each degree program. I’m hoping the decision will be more clear after I compare the transcript evaluations, and I’ll have to decide between competency-based and more credits accepted.
Does anyone know approximately how long it takes to get transcripts evaluations back if I apply in the next week? I’m hoping before mid-April. When I get the evaluations back, should I post them here or on a new thread? Also, are course syllabuses for both colleges available anywhere? I’ve looked through the UMPI course master thread, but I haven’t seen many for business/accounting courses after the Brightspace move. I haven’t found anything for TESU. Thank you!

UMPI will take several weeks. They won't process your application until they receive all of you documents required for the transcript. Once you're accepted, it takes a few weeks for the transcript evaluation to be completed.

One question you had was being able to take a month off. You can't really. The terms have set start and end dates. I guess if you finished your courses early, then you could do nothing the rest of the term, but it's not like you change the start date. The terms are 8 weeks long so you could skip a term. UMPI is also a LOT of writing. Every course has a paper or project. Most papers are longer than 5 pages plus the Milestones which are essays. There are no exams at UMPI. UMPI's syllabus are not available until you're enrolled in the course. They don't tell you much anyway. There's no description of the assignments on the syllabus.
