Just got CompTIA A+ certified tonight
#1
Just passed the second exam needed after passing the first one 2 week ago, meaning I am now A+ certified!

I've been involved in the field for quite a bit, so this isn't too surprising, but it's a nice validation of the skills I have and I'm super excited nonetheless.

It's a good starting point to a slew of industry certs I'm eyeing, and got me familiar with ConpTIA and Pearson VUE's setup.

Congrats!

I plan on getting my CompTIA A+ in the near future as well!

On cyber Monday I purchased both of Mike Meyer's CompTIA courses on Udemy for $20 total (they each cost $145 normally), and I also bought a desktop computer (another $20) off of Craigslist yesterday to tinker with while studying.

First off congratulations!

Have you used Cram.com or Quizlet sets for studying?

I am thinking of taking the exam in February which would give me about 5 weeks to study. I did take a course for this very subject but it has been a while.

Goal for 2017 is pretty much all of the certs on the WGU- Security plan.

Congrats JSD! Good stuff. I think you'll be on track to getting the Net+ as that's the next step up.
After that Security+, CompTIA's are the building blocks/first certs to go for, then I would move upwards to another player in the field.

Thanks! I haven't used cram.com, but I've used Quizlet. Since it's all user generated content, it can be hard to find the best resource, but when you find the right set it's pretty good. Flashcards aren't something that really help me personally, doesn't fit my learning style. But I can see why they'd help others. I'd much rather watch something like the free Messer videos.

The WGU IT-Sec is a good plan, and I'm seriously considering getting a second Bachelors through them. My work will pay for it, so I might as well.

Thanks!

I've been in the field for quite a while, so I'm familiar with the CompTIA triad and some of their ancillary degrees (that Linux+ cert is pretty interesting), as well as the heavy hitters in the industry.
