Okay its official my 18 year old daughter is a junior. She is attending a state university that boosts a very healthy science dept. She actually is a bio/chem. major who is on a pre med track. She has completed 8 credits of bio w/labs, 8 credits of chem. w/ labs, stats, calculus, and physics w/lab. Out of the 66 pre requâs need to enter into a PharmD program she will only have 8 credits in organic chem. w/labs, microbiology w/lab and macro away from applying. I cannot believe it!!! I really do not know how my âSuper Chickâ took 5 classes spring semester and got 4 Aâs and an A-. She blows my mind.
Also I would like to add that because she is in junior status she receive more grant and scholarship money. So now she will actually be going to school at no cost to her. She has also been picked to be an RA in the dorm where she lived last year. Being an RA at her school will give her free room and board along with a meals pass. The total savings for that is around 10K. She actually will be receiving money back because she has a lot of money available to fund her education. She also has been asked to be a TA in honors Bio for freshman. Which is a paid position and she actually gets credit for it. She is one lucky girl, but she has worked hard for it. I am just so happy for her.
PS - she will be taking the College Math Clep this month for another 4 credits in her gen eds.

That is amazing! I could not imagine being a bio/chem major. The mere thought makes me shudder.

The program my daughter wants to enter has an accelerated PharmD that is 2yrs 10 months. The last yr or so you are out in the field working gain experience which is nice. Also the university she is attending has an articulation agreement with the school so your senior yr can be spent in the doctorate program as long as you get accepted and all of your pre requ's are done. It really is a nice deal for the motivated student.
