A few people in my family want to use Straighterline for courses, but will not be doing them at the same time. If I bought one Biology kit, can it be reused or will I need to buy a separate kit for each person?
Is the Straighterline Biology Lab Kit Reusalble or Consumable?

Hello! I have a DIY substitute (almost everything) for the BIO101 Lab kit on Straighterline. The lab kit they tell you to buy is $79 - I didn't feel like spending $79 (just because). I have a couple of solutions:
1. Buy a lightly used one one Ebay (plenty of them out there - you can also buy the $79 kit and resell it later). I saw them as low as $40 complete but with shipping it didn't really save that much. If I was persistent I could have watched closer and got a better deal... 2. Much of what they ask for can be made from simple household items - sugar, sodium chloride (salt), baking soda, vinegar etc... But what I didn't have was the beakers, test tubes, etc... This is where my favorite store on earth comes in... AMAZON! My total spend was just over $27 with tax and delivery. Instead of a test tube set with stand I bought a "propagation" bud vase with three tubes (same thing as a test tube with stand only DECORATIVE! - I am going to grow plant cuttings in it now!) $8.99 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B083FK...UTF8&psc=1 I bought this glass beaker set: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01F47...UTF8&psc=1 $7.99 And this plastic set of graduated cylinders, 5 beakers etc..., https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B074CS...UTF8&psc=1 $7.99 I had pipettes from candle making and baking so I didn't have to buy those but if you do have to buy them, they are on amazon to (or just hit up any crafter or baker you know and get a couple or so) You have to get a little creative but it was pretty simple - my degree is not in biology and I only needed a 70% in the course to pass so I wasn't going for perfect anyhow. I HOPE THAT HELPS! |
