Intro to Psychology

Has anyone taken the CLEP "intro to Psychology"? I am scheduled to take it next Tuesday (9/21) How difficult is the test and what can I expect? Thanks!!!

Welcome to the forum! As Tasman said there are plenty of threads on this forum about that test and it would be best to start with a search and get plenty of info that way. Also, if you have a subscription ( $20 monthly) to IC you can access the Flashcards for this test and ' Specific Exam Feedback' where members of this forum post tips on what the test is like and what to study etc. Most members here agree that the Flashcards and Specific Exam feedback is worth every penny of the monthly subscription price! Most members pass their tests using those two sources alone!!

There are a lot of variables that determine "how difficult" the test will be for each individual person. Please provide more info about yourself-- Do you have any background in Psychology or have taken other psych tests?, Is this your first clep test?, have you been out of college for many years?, are you in college now?, do you retain information rapidly? As you can see there are many, many factors that go into how hard the test will be. Let us know more info and maybe we can steer you.

The others are correct that "how difficult" depends on a number of factors about you. However, if you are looking for a good CLEP to start with for someone who has not taken one before, Psychology is a decent choice due to the generality of the subject matter and how available resources are. Unless you have studied Psychology before, a week is pretty short notice and you want to get right to work. The IC product (sponsors of this forum) may be the best short-term prep tool. That will get you access to the specific feedback forum.

Hi, thanks for getting back to me. I am finishing up my bachelors degree in Management at NLU in Chicago and I am a couple of classes short. My remaining classes are electives so I can pretty much take whatever I want as long as it doesn't duplicate any of my management classes. I have taken some Dantes (here's to your health, principles of supervision) and a couple more I can't think of this moment. On my previous tests, I only used the recommended material suggested by the school and passed. I just happened to find this website online a few weeks ago. I started a little more than a week ago and I have a week until my test. I have a couple other psychology classes I've taken but that's about it.

I read through (hem. more like skimmed) a few intro to psych textbooks, read the REA study guide and took notes, took some practice tests, reviewed the areas I was weak on (it helps to write down unfamiliar questions as you go and look them up later). Lots of googling, wikipedia, and random internet resources. There is an abundance of good psych resources online. Good luck!

Ok, that gives us a much clearer picture of where you are coming from. You are definitely in a position to do well-- you have psych background, you are already in college, and you are familiar with these cleps, dssts etc. I think the REA books are good, I have used Sparknotes or Cliffnotes website. Especially Sparknotes.com for their overview of psychology. I have heard of people using the AP psychology books as well. Ponygirls's link is a good source as well. I would definitely do a search on this forum because there are a lot of threads about this test.
