It was recommend by somebody who teaches classes on the stuff, I think. I was assured that this was "the book" I would need. Whether it is or not remains to be seen, but it looks pretty exhaustive. 500+ pages. I figure with that and IC, I should be fine. I have done pretty well on most exams with IC and a textbook for background.

This guy taches Middle East History or he teaches crash courses for the DANTES (I am sorry if I am sounding rude or picky, I guess I am just a little nervous)?
Also do you know when you are planning to take the test?
Thanks

LOL, no I don't think you're being picky! To be honest with you, I don't know for sure. I am getting my degree with the help of CollegePlus, an organization which offers coaching and resource suggestions. My coach sent me the recommendation for this book. It was recommended by another coach who said,
"This book I'm recommending is exactly what you'll need, and covers ALL the information you will be required to know."
That's all I can tell you. I am planning on taking the test in two weeks and I began reading the book today. It's 550 pages and starts with some basics on the founding and spread of Islam. So far it seems pretty detailed. I'm planning to just use it and IC.
Sorry I'm not more help.

The book I'm reading is very detailed and thorough but it's so hard to reMEMber all that stuff! It's like, about a dozen different countries A. have problems B. overthrow their government C. receive foreign aid D. get tired of foreign aid E. overthrow their government F. boot the foreign aid and then G. overthrow their government again, just for good measure. LOL! How'm I supposed to keep all this in my brain?????
I know I do this nervous thing every time before a test....it's nice to have a "support group." Somebody tell me I'll do fine! Please, please!!!
YOU'LL DO FINE! I give you a lot of credit for taking this test. I never had to take this test. This test does sound hard. Like your name, I really do believe that you 'studyhard'. That is the most important key to passing this test. Don't forget to let us know how you did.
Oh, and in answer to your question of "How'm I supposed to keep this all this in my brain?????", I can only tell you what answer I give myself, "Keep pounding it in, if that's not working, I get a bigger hammer! hilarious But don't give up!" Then I remind myself that others before me have done it, I can, too. AND SO CAN YOU!

Here is the game plan:
Step 1: You are going to do great.
Step 2: You are going to tell me about how great you did (and how useful your book was).
Step 3: I will get your a copy of your book.
Step 4: I will tell you how great I did.

LOL! Okay, sounds like a great plan to me!!! hilarious
I'll be sure and post after my test tomorrow. I'm feeling reasonably confident....I've done all the IC sections about 4 times, read most of the book (which did provide a lot of great background), borrowed the DSST outline and filled in a lot of it via internet research, and printed off 4-5 timelines and/or empire summaries and read them.
So with all the work I've done, I'm thinking I should at least pass, even if I don't get a super-duper score.
