Has anyone taken Intermediate Accounting at Penn Foster? Curious how the program is structured?
Also, I see people talking about Advanced Accounting and Taxation, but don't see that listed in the Penn Foster catalog.
I'm also looking at LSU, but the proctor test are expensive in my area.

No, Advanced Accounting and Taxation is no longer offered at Penn Foster, I just emailed Tom at Penn Foster and he stated the following:
"The only accounting courses we have presently are Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting, Intermediate Accounting 1,Intermediate Accounting 2 and Cost Accounting."

Thanks for quick response Joe! I just signed up for Intermediate Acct I and II at Penn Foster. Depending on availability with my local community college, I might take cost accounting, auditing and taxation online at local school. Thanks again Joe!

Where do you find the specific information for the intermediate 1 & 2 and cost accounting from their website? When I look at it, there is only a link to sign up for their accounting degree.

I just emailed Tom at Tom.Hunt#pennfoster.edu (note, change # to @ for email address)
I was going to sign up for Inter. Acct at LSU, but way!!! too much homework and the proctor exams was 40 dollars each in my area.
I just paid $565.00 for both ACC201 (Inter. Acct I) and ACC202 (Inter. Acct II) that includes books and everything. Matter of fact, it's just one book for both courses.
ACC201 has four lesson exams and one proctor final.
ACC202 has five lesson exams and one proctor final.
much easier since my coworker is going to do the proctor.

Thanks for posting Tom's email - have certainly had my share of issues trying to get through to Penn Foster at the various phone numbers I've found posted on this forum, or on their own website for that matter. Took Info Lit a few months ago, and wanted to sign up for another class, but was having trouble finding the number I used to get in touch with them before - the email worked great. They certainly don't seem to be pursuing the market for selling individual classes.
At any rate, here are couple of other email addresses that may be of help to future readers trying to sign up for Penn Foster courses should Tom become hard to get ahold of: marianne.wowk#pennfoster.edu and maribeth.gillen#pennfoster.edu. I dealt with Marianne a few months ago when taking Info Lit and she was very helpful.
Just got signed up for the ACC112 Managerial Accounting class today ($295 total cost) - really seems the best alternative out there (best price, least hassle) for satisfying the EC requirement since there are no longer any exams to cover it. Their Information Literacy class is definitely by far the best alternative for satisfying what is basically a joke of a class, IMHO, and the $210 I saved on that one class (compared to the EC price for the class) will more than cover the cost of using IntantCert for my entire degree - Thanks very much to this forum for turning me on to that one! Hopefully ACC112 will turn out to be just as satisfying.
Okay, back to studying...
