alleycat Wrote:Norema, what subject area do you want your doctorate in? Did you go on the other forum DegreeInfo Distance Learning - online degree forum - Powered by vBulletin. Alot of people over there are getting their doctorate.
Keep us posted on your findings please.
Yes, I went through a couple of their links that were dedicated to schools that offer Doctorates. That is where I found the two I spoke about earlier. Looking at what is offered so far, I have found Education with Adult Learning at Lesley University to be interesting. Especially since I know a bit about the differences and the struggles of it, and encourage others to achieve it. I am keeping my options open though. My problem is that I am so diverse in my interest, and that I find myself being an advocate in. That I can't put a label on it, or on me for that matters. That's why I ask for everyone to send all that they know about. As an example, I didn't think Education would be an area for me, but I found that specification in Adult Learning makes a lot of since for me. So, that's why I just look at it all, and look within myself to see if it has been a part of me or not. Then I decide.

And don't worry if you change your mind about going even further with your education, ultimately our priorities sometimes change everyday. It's good to use this forum to get some ideas, I know this forum has brought to my attention stuff I never would've thought of.
Which reminds me to ask you something else. I checked out some of your previous threads and notice you had considered AMU or APUS as well. Was there a reason why you picked Amberton over APUS? To me it seems almost like splitting hairs. The two advantages I see with APUS is that it has 8 week classes consistently and the availability of all the classes in each month where as from what I read from your posts Amberton sometimes has 10 week classes and sometimes the classes are unavailable for certain terms. The things I like about Amberton is the fact that the Masters program can simultaneously include 2 grad certificates like you mentioned and also I personally like the sound of the name a little better, sounds a little less onlineish.
Attending Amberton instead of APUS happened due to my timing on enrolling at APUS. So, it happened on circumstance. I tried to enroll at APUS the day after registration was over. I pondered a day too long on what I was going to do. I too liked their 8 week terms, and their Humanities major. I called to see if I could still register since it was just a day late, and I was told no. So, I did not want to give myself time to sit, so I enrolled at Amberton. I am actually glad I did, because of their Prof. Development major. I was able to create my degree. You can't say that about most Master's, especially ones that aren't called Liberal degrees. Let alone finishing it sooner than I would have finished APUS's degree. I wish I could have my courses available as I'd like, but I'm happy with Amberton.
