Inexpensive Education ECTS
#1
Another university, University of Jyväskylä, has some Open University courses available.

https://www.avoin.jyu.fi/en/open-university
https://www.avoin.jyu.fi/en/courses-offe...es-offered

These courses, unlike those offered by XAMK, are education/teaching ECTS instead of business/programming/health. There are 5 1-ECTS MOOC (self-paced) options available. They cost 15 euros each. There are 6 instructor-led courses that are only available at certain times of the year. These are 5 ECTS each and cost 75 euros.

Yes, there are cheaper US-based credits available out there. But these might be worth it if the subject matter interests you. I have no idea if these would count as LL or UL credits. Given that they're either EQF level 6 or 7, I would guess that they have a good chance of being considered to be UL credits. At least the level 7 ones, maybe.

Do the credits from Open University end up on a real transcript?

The ones from XAMK do. These should also end up on a real transcript. The biggest problem with Finnish universities is that it can sometimes be difficult to access your transcript. Depending on what you enroll in, if you don't have access to Peppi at Xamk, XAMK emails you a new one every 6 months or so (or upon request). Some universities only have the email request system. Others have self-service options.

tl;dr: Transcript, yes. Obtaining it is possibly a little more work than Americans are used to.
