Wish I could get excited about the royal wedding, but those tornados were less than two miles from my house. Eight dead two miles away and eight dead in the town of Ringgold, Georgia (which was demolished) less than four miles from my home. My grandson won't be able to finish this school year at his high school because it was so heavily damaged.
A family of four I knew from church is no longer with us. Sad to say a wedding would be welcome news today.

Frankieblueeyes - so glad to hear that you are ok, but very sad to hear about others in your community.
I agree with everyone who said to turn off the tv... problem was yesterday I was in the airport on on planes yesterday. There's no turning off the tv in the airport and since I fly Frontier, I watch DirectTV on the flight. They have like 25 channels to choose from and about 24 of them were dedicated to the royal wedding.. lol it seemed like the only one that didn't was Nickelodeon.
So, I'm not trapped in front of the tv today and it's much better

Wow, I'm glade you're OK. That was a horrible storm. It passed over my house and I didn't even know it. I just kept sleeping. Thank goodness this part of NC a very inactive storm area. We get storms but they don't do much damage.
I know there were people out there that were less fortunate.
My neighbor's nephew is a apartment manager in AL. One of their 50 unit, four story apartment buildings was cut down to two stories by the storm. Thank goodness no one was missing or even hurt.

Was halfway listening to the TV news while eating breakfast in a hotel lobby this morning and heard them go straight from about 15 sec. on the growing death toll to spending about 5 minutes discussing the hats worn at the wedding. banghead

When I was 15 I woke up at 4AM to watch Lady Diana become Princess Diana. 30 years later and I had to do it again. It just wouldn't be the same if I Tivo'd it and watched after seeing the ending already on 46 channels. What amazes me about it is the history. In 1066 William the Conqueror came to England and started building the abbey they were married in. Edward the Confessor, the King William replaced, is buried in (or maybe under) the room where William and Kate signed their marriage documents. Isn't that amazing! Almost every king or queen was crowned there. Here in the US we just don't have that kind of history. The oldest historical things we have are 1600's. I also find it as fascinating as watching a Disney fairy tale come to life. For some reason, it wasn't the wedding that made me emotional. It was seeing an estimated 1 million people gathered in one place, waving the Union Jack frantically, and cheering their future King and his bride as they rode in the carriage through the streets on the way to the palace. You just don't see stuff like that every day. It's a shame that the media focuses on the hats and all that crap, so I deliberately didn't watch anything except the coverage of the wedding itself, and I fast forwarded through a lot of the junk.

I know this thread is sort of about the Royal Wedding, but it's also got some posts dealing with the devastation in (primarily) Alabama. I have a link of a few videos that might be of interest to those sick of the wedding and interested in the devastation:

Re: the Wedding. I've not even seen footage. Most of the news I've heard and seen recently has been like link above. My heart breaks for the families who lost loved ones, and I wish I could do something to substantially help those who lost everything they owned (but I praise God their lives were spared!).
