Im back, and need help with my options with Aleks & Statistics?
#1
So this is my first time on the forums for months, after working a very busy fire season i had to put my schooling on pause during the summer. Im just getting back into everything to finish up my last 2 classes for my BSBA through TESC. One of which is Statistics.

Of course the first thread i opened was the one with Aleks' ACE accreditation expiring 10/31/2013.

I am pretty decent at math, took trig in high school (4years ago), and i have A LOT of free time during the day, would it be humanly possible to complete Aleks Into to Statistics and get it on my ACE transcript by the 31st?

If i signed up with Aleks tonight, can i get started that second? Or do i have to wait 1-2 business days for my account to register or anything like that?

Does my class just have to be passed before the 31st? Or actually on the ACE transcript? (not sure how long that takes)

If not, and if Aleks stays off ACE, what are some possibilities for Statistics that TESC would accept?

What are your thoughts? And sorry for all the questions, like i said i've been gone all summer and i feel like im brand new to all of this again. I'll be back on board with everything soon enough Smile

Thanks for any input. Much appreciated.

*** Also on a side note, on my TESC evaluation under math, all it lists is my Algebra course, and 3 credits needed for Statistics. Does not mention Trigonometry anywhere, any reason for that?***

Five days to pass stats is a daunting task, but assuming you have some previous knowledge it is doable. Five days to learn stats from scratch is pushing it.

As soon as you sign up for ALEKS and pay them their money, you can start the course.

The date that matters is the date that ALEKS lists as you passing an assessment with 70% or better.

Other options for statistics: Straighterline, Sophia, Propero, DSST, and probably a few others.

They have a free trial you can do to see how close you are to assessing at 70%.

I'm still trying to figure out what to do about ALEKS myself.

You can go there and sign up at any time and begin immediately, that part I know.
What I don't know is how long it will take to show up on the ACE and I'm very confused by the fact that some people have said things expired on 9/30 and some people are saying they're still good til 10/31.

I need two algebra's and a statistics i was planning to do with Aleks. Sad

I recommend signing up now and paying the $20 fee. You can contact ALEKS and request a refund if you're unable to complete it by the 10/31 expiration date.

Once you sign up, ALEKS will also auto-generate and e-mail you login details for a Master account. The Master account is used for managing the student account -- you can issue tests from it and check progress.

The student account is what you'll be using to complete your assessment. The first assessment will be an initial assessment and if you get less than 70% on it you'll get a pie chart showing all the topics you need to work on. Take notes and learn what you don't understand. Click "Explain" and you will get explanations for each problem, do not skip anything you don't understand.

You can either wait for ALEKS to issue you an assessment once you've worked through enough topics or you can continue issuing an assessment any time through the Masters account. To issue an assessment from the Masters account, you can click "View Progress Report" and under "More Options" you'll see the Request a New Assessment Now link. Just click that to issue the assessment to your Student account.

If you haven't already, make sure you register an account at the ACE Credit Registry and Transcript System at https://www2.acenet.edu/credit/?fuseacti...ripts.main so you can transfer your credits from ALEKS once you have a passing grade.

Good luck!

It's good through 10/31 (search ALEKS on ACE through https://www2.acenet.edu/credit/?fuseacti...chCriteria to confirm), now go and sign up if you really need the credits!

Thanks so much, Ost, this is what I was looking for. I swear I did the same search on Ace's site and got zero results.

I just finished ALEKS Statistics yesterday. I looked back at my account just now, and it said that I had worked about 31 hours total. This is with basically no prior statistics knowledge. I requested my last assessment from my master account after I was comfortably above 70% on my pie chart of topics. It took maybe half an hour for the course to show up on my ACE transcript after I requested it.

I am at loss here, I sign up for aleks introduction to statistics, have been doing the questions and examples for the past couple hours trying to finish each and everyone pie on the chart. What I want to know is if there is any examination at the completion of the pie? I sign up for personal use/home school, how do I get ACE to verify the credits? Or how do I send to EC specifically? Any help will be appreciated. thanks.

I'm having a heckofa time with the behavioral stats.

Does anyone know if Intro. Stats is any easier?

This stuff is kicking my butt. I'm on question #3 of the newest assessment and it is asking me stuff that seems incredibly advanced.

Sigma. I have to use the sigma. lol I didn't think that was basic stats stuff. It didn't come up at all on my first assessment.

"What is the value of the slope for the least-squares regression line for these data?"

I've done slope, "least squares regression" is new... I'm not giving up yet but...

Has anyone messed around among the three different Stats enough to get an idea if one is easier or harder?

This stuff was also on the Intro to Stats course.
