To enroll in the TECEP.

Jtatum2701 Wrote:I've been reading the forums and there is a lot to take in. I am seeing a lot of options and just need help to decide what path to take. I recently was offered a job in real estate assessment for the county I live in, and they like to promote quickly but I don't have a degree so I will be very limited as to how far up the ladder I can go and how fast the promotions come. My main goal is to get a bachelor in something quick and easy (i know those are relative terms) since the county doesn't care what my degree is in just that I have a degree. I am open to anything right now and once I have the degree I could plan a second more specific degree in a related field or more suited to my interests/hobbies. I have 10 credits from a local CC to start with and have been looking at TESU but I could use some advice before I pull the trigger. the credits I have are as follows:

ENGL-102 29 English Composition 102 3.00cr,
MUS.-182 01 Jazz Appreciation 3.00cr,
ENGL-101 62 English Composition 101 3.00cr,
COMG-150 10 Intro to Computer Technology 1.00cr

Thanks in advance!

These are what transfer to TESU and if you are going to take the TECEP you can get a lot of general education out of the way. As well as econ micro/macro, accounting 1&2, management, communications and others. I was able to finish 4 courses in a week.

That person got 45 credits.

Review the Beginners Guide in the Wiki and review the contents of the wiki as well.
You need to get yourself a spreadsheet going to keep reference and track your progress.

Start with the FREE courses & ALEKS courses to get your math/general education credits/free electives
Then work on Straighterline/Study.com courses for the remainder of the degree (but capstone).

Follow these two threads and take your Straighterline courses. For Study.com, take courses not already taken at Straighterline.

I just copy/pasted what I did on another thread on the forum, review those links and you should be good to go!
Essentially - Free courses, ALEKS, Straighterline and Study.com to finish all the requirements but the Capstone.

Don't be confused, be prepared. The Bus 421 is currently the capstone, but the options are threefold.
Online Course, Guided Study, or a TECEP - see Thomas Edison State University | Courses & Schedules
You need to take the TECEP as it ends really soon for $117, OR pay about $1500 for the other two options.
The TECEP is a test only, the other two are courses. You should really just pay the $117 and study for that test!

It is a TECEP exam. But they treat TECEPs like a course in some ways, so you have to "enroll" in the exam.

Some people take the capstone course instead, which is a lot harder.

No, you just need study.com credits later so TESU doesn't make you take the cornerstone (and you get a discount on the residency waiver).

First apply and pay the $75. Choose study.com affiliation. Then, optionally, call and get your application expedited. If you don't, you may have to pay the late registration fee but you may be ok. Then you have to wait for some kind of student ID number.
