I passed the CSU Global CBE for Basic Programming!
#1
It only took them a day to grade my exam. I only used the study materials they provided. I wanted to watch all of the tutorials they linked to, but I didn't have time. I also skipped over the articles that were linked to at the beginning of each unit. Without the videos and external articles, the study materials they provide cover about 80% of what's on the exam. I don't know if the videos would have covered the rest, but there is also a recommended textbook I did not buy. This course is in VB.NET. It was previously in Java, and the slides were packed with information. It definitely would have taken longer to study for the previous version of this exam.

For this exam, I highly recommend that you complete all of the unit tests and pre-test. This test has five short essay questions and 95 multiple-choice questions; I believe all of the CBEs are structured like this. If I would have failed this exam, I would have completed the Straighterline course for C++ since the exams allow notes and access to all the study materials in Moodle. That course doesn't have a textbook. The Uexcel for Java Programming would have been a last resort.

Congratulations Sanantone! Since we rely on the posts on this forum so much and it was hard to find info on this CBE, I just want to post my 16 yr old son's experience with this exam. He studied on and off for it while also taking CSU Programming I (JAVA), and completing quite a few study.com classes. I thought it would be easy for him because he was finding the Prog. I class so easy. He had quite a bit of Java experience and just minimal VB.net experience. He went through the class and still kept scoring in the high 60's on the pre-test, so I rented the book for him. It helped. He loves reading anything to do with programming. What helped him the most though was just playing around and writing VB.net code. After about a week or two of doing this, a few hours here and there, he decided to take a chance on the exam. He passed! Just a note that the essay questions came first and you can not go back to a question once you answer. He thought the hardest part was that there were several multiple choice questions that said there was more than one answer and they didn't always tell you how many to pick. Hope this helps someone. BTW he gat an easy A in Programming I and is now doing Programming II.

Thank you. My essay questions came last, and I was not allowed to go back.

Thank you. I would share my plan, but it wouldn't help anyone. I did some negotiating. :coolgleam:
