Hmmm...What I have noticed is that although Instantcert certainly touches on many of the questions asked, the history tests seem to dig a little deeper into the meanings...Especially the UL tests.
For example, Instantcert may say "The Treaty of So-and-So was signed in 19-oh-whatever by Baron Von What's-his-name."...BUT, the test will ask "According to the Treaty of So-and-So, Baron Von-What's-his-name wanted concessions pertaining to ______________?" This was true of the Civil War, USSR, and AH II tests. I think that the history tests are more difficult than the others because they are broad and subjective...There are no difinitives...For example, in Drug and Alcohol, there is no doubt that Cocaine is a stimulant...There is no gray area or dispute...But when it comes to history, there are many causes, effects and outcomes...To simply say "slavery caused the Civil War" or "The USSR collapsed because of perestroika" is not going to cut it...There are a lot more variables that put these events into motion.
So, although Instantcert definately will prime you to get a good overall knowledge of the subject, you have to do a little extra research in order to get in-depth knowledge of the subject (Wikipedia has been my favorite alternate source)...
The good news is that Instantcert definately covers at least 90% of the material you will see on the test. If you learn a little about the Treaty of So-and So and know who Baron Von What's-his-name is through Instantcert, much of the time you can rule out the ridiculous answers and make a pretty good educated guess...
Good luck!
