I need some TESC tuition advice/opinions
#1
I need some opinions on which tuition plan I should choose at TESC. Maybe your past experience can help me decide.

I am pursuing BA in computer science. I am still waiting on an updated evaluation, but I believe I will only have 18 credits (6 courses) remaining.

The Enrolled Option will cost $6,787 for the 18 credits
The Comprehensive option will cost $7,837 for the 18 credits plus allow another 18

I don't need the extra 18 credits to graduate, but it's hard for me to just let those extra 18 credits go when it's only a $1,000 difference. I plan to get a Masters in Comp. Sci., just not at TESC, and eventually try to do some teaching. I was maybe thinking a graduate certificate from TESC as they are only 12 credits. The Online Teaching cert would possibly help down the road with teaching. The Project Management cert would help my IT career.

I plan to be a full time student for the next 6-18 months with a little consulting work here and there.

Thoughts? Opinions?

Don't forget to add to that $1,000 the cost of textbooks and any proctoring fees in addition to the opportunity cost. I'd put the money either to grad school tution, towards a downpayment for a house or into a Roth IRA or dividend investment plans UNLESS pursuing an additional 18 undergrad credits will directly lead to a higher paycheck very soon.

EDIT: someone correct me if I am mistaken, but in the OP's case, the comprehensive tuition as applied to TESC courses would only be valid for undergrad courses. My reasoning is based in part upon that understanding.

You would have to enroll in the bachelor's to master's program at the onset. So far as cost of credits, call the bursar or admissions. There was some talk about this last year, I don't remember the outcome and do not want to give incorrect information.

Is your calculation based on taking those 18 credits you need as courses?

If you use CLEP/DSST/TECEP/ECE exams your cost would be less for the enrolled options plan and make that a better deal.

For my 2012 school year (12 month tuition) at TESC I payed the enrolled option $1436( NJ Resident) and I plan on completing 9 FEMA and ~7 exams for ~30 credits for an additional $700 and then I can earn an additional AAS and BA.
