I literally just paid my $75 application fee and applied to TESC. Most of you know my situation from previous posts, but I have also included it in my signature. I applied for the Bachelor of Arts in Natural Sciences and Mathematics. I heard I can switch my major at any time without penalty, so I am going to ride this out. I am trying to compare the Business Administration major and see how many additional credits I would need in order to double major in that. Main goal..finish Bachelors and apply/be accepted to Masters program by end of December 2011 or beginning of 2012.
I don't know why I am so scared and nervous. I guess I'm hoping I can hurry up and get the financial aid thing going. I didn't work at all last year, so my income was $0 and I'm nearly positive that financial aid is based on your previous year's income. I am praying I get the $5,500 some have spoken of and that I'm able to complete my degree THIS year.
I have NO idea what the next step is and I am eager to get the ball rolling.I plan on testing out of absolutely EVERYTHING. The application didn't ask for transcripts, etc. So I am wondering what I should be doing next. It stated that an advisor would call me. My goal is to graduate with my Bachelors absolutely NO later than December 2011. I don't care if it's December 31st, 2011..I just want to complete it within this year! :hurray:

Send in your transcripts as soon as possible because they are slow about getting evals done (took about 6 weeks for mine to show up). Anything you test out of from now on, select them as your institution to receive your scores to save some money in the long run.

Awesome! Thank You. So I will contact my previous schools and give them the address to TESC transcript office then right? OMG...6 weeks? That's a long time. What did you do in the meantime? I am trying to get financial aid, so I am not sure if I should start clepping out of a few things just yet. Also, do I need to send an official transcript are unofficial ones ok? My stupid college is an hour away from me and I just read on their website that you have to physically go in and pay the fee to have your transcript mailed. RIDICULOUS! I don't have all the time in the world to head down there.

You need to send all your transcripts to TESC. ASAP they can not do your evaluation without the transcripts. You only did steps 1 & 2 on this page
Thomas Edison State College | Apply for an Undergraduate Degree or Certificate Program You need to do the nesxt steps.
Submit Your Transcripts to:
Office of the Registrar
Thomas Edison State College
101 W. State St.
Trenton, NJ 08608-1176
It can take 2-3 weeks for a transcript to get to TESC and another 4-6 weeks to get an evaluation. You need to figure out what credits you still need for your degree and start testing now.
To be in the December2011 graduating class you need to have completed (or at least be in process of completing all coursework and credits) and submit your application for graduation to TESC by Oct.1, 2011
If you want to meet that deadline you have a lot of work to plan and do in less than 6 months. It is doable, but you need to start NOW not wait for your TESC eval.

Awesome! I'm on it. I'm going to work HARD!!! How can I start now without waiting for TESC eval? I'm assuming by clepping out of the handful of general credits that I have left right? I may have to pay out of pocket for a few of them, but if it means being able to graduate December 2011, I'm gonna bite the bullet. I still pray I qualify for financial aid because money is just so tight for me and I have been in tears over completing my Bachelors for the longest.
Do you think it would serve me well to post a thread where I list all my potential transfer credits so that big 3ers can weigh in and give me tips? I've found that the people on this forum seem to be exceptionally knowledgeable and bright. I'd assume you would need to be in order to teach yourself through your Bachelors degree as that's a challenge in itself! Thanks for giving me hope.
And Linda...I also noticed that you graduated with the degree I am interested in! Would love to talk more about it later and ask you for more specific opinions on which classes I should get out of the way first, etc. and whether or not you're finding the transition to Masters programs easy. Take Care

Go to the TESC and copy the list of what is required for the degree. Then put in what you have and where you think they will fit, Lastly put in what test you think may fill in the openings. Post it in a thread asking for an evaluation of your plan. Myself and many more qualified oters will help you clean it up and then you can start testing.
Test are cheap and not always covered under Financial aid. TESC is notorisly slow on FA. If you want to get this done this year you May have to cut corners other places so you can pay for the test out of pocket.

Thanks for your honesty. I'm going to start a thread and show you guys what I have so far. I literally want to buy my first study guide TONIGHT and get at it. I am feeling the pressure. I hope 15 hours of studying a week is going to be enough to pull this off. I'm usually good at passing exams and I am EXCELLENT at memorizing, but I am not familiar with any of this..just a newbie clep virgin. hilarious

If you haven't already, it's important that you go to
Home - FAFSA on the Web-Federal Student Aid and apply for financial aid. TESC, practically any college, requires you to go through FAFSA to qualify for aid. You will need your most recent tax forms.Once you have filled out the FAFSA they will tell you right away what you likely qualify for, PELL grant, Stafford loans, etc...
You won't be able to use financial aid specifically for CLEP and DSST. You will likely need to be going to school full time (12 hours) a semester to get full financial aid. I have some more on this if your interested, there are some work arounds. I gotta go for right now though.
MBA, Western Governors University February 2014
BS Charter Oak State College November 2011
AS in EMS August 2010
I'm always happy to complete the free application waiver for those applying to WGU (I get a free gift from WGU for this). Just PM me your first/last name and a valid email so I can complete their form.
