I got accepted for the Pell Grant and just recently noticed that FHSU has a bunch of different certificates that count for credit and can be completed in 1 semester, they also seem like great resume builders.
Has anyone taken classes with FHSU, is their program flexible and interesting?
Also do you guys think that doing two certificate programs one through FHSU and another through LSU independent study at the same time is over kill? after all LSU is self paced I think?
I want to complete about 30 or 40 credits of graded work for grad school purposes and clep\dsst the rest.
Both of this certificate will actually help complete the overall goal which is a Liberal Arts degree with the intent to go to law school with it.
#1 FHSU Certificate in Law and the Courts
Law and the Courts - Fort Hays State University
#2 LSU Independent study Business Communication Certificate
LSU Independent and Distance Learning - Credit Certificate Programs

You got me thinking - I also have my FAFSA Grant waiting for me. Been trying to decide on a four year college (as a perpetual student, I have many, many credits to transfer from community college) - this gives me another possibility (or maybe another way to procrastinate!)
As far as doing two certificates at once - you can only do one at a time w/Financial Aid, I believe.
I haven't taken classes w/either school - I think one thing to consider is where you are thinking of attending and whether these classes would be accepted when you want to transfer.

I'm going to transfer in 4 or 5 courses from Straighterline into FHSU so I figured why not just utilize the Pell and do a semester through them, I mean the other option is Clovis, but Clovis is just as expensive for Fall.
With LSU i figured i'll just pay for that out of the pocket since is relatively cheap.

Smart. Very smart!
I never heard of Straighterline until I started reading this board. I wish I
had before I took all the classes at my local community college. Was much, much more expensive.
Now I've smartened up, though. Not going to continue to let student loans choke me! :ack:
Still need to take math classes, so if I can get my mind around where to go to school next, I'll do my math at Straighterline.
