CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Can't ever see too many of those, huh?)
Terrific job. When I finally finish my degree--I'll be the first in my family as well. It's not particularly noteworthy for me--as I'm an only child...

Katterina Wrote:I finished the my last exam today, which completes my BSL at Excelsior College. It is finally done! I am now the first in my immediate family to complete a 4-year degree. It is a dream come true, something I hardly thought possible for myself two years ago. I never could have finished 56 credits in as little as a year without IC and this forum (seriously, it took me six years to complete my AA!) I would not have been brave enough to try testing out of my degree without the encouragement and many success stories I found here. Thank you, thank you, thank you IC for showing me the way!

You should be SO proud of yourself!! Proud that you kept it up for 6 long years and still found a way to make your own way through a bachelor program!! Now, be sure to help someone else looking down the long tunnel and not seeing the light at the end- only thinking that they have to endure the long classes for 6 years to earn their associates degree....you tell them there is another way!! You can be an inspiration to others!! GREAT JOB!

It is funny you should mention it. After seeing my success, my husband finally decided to try one of the Big Three to finish his degree. He has over 120 credits and gave up on it ten years ago because of how horribly the university functions here. It was always a big regret for him, and now he smiles when he talks about finally finishing it.
And my little brother is talking about getting his GED now that he knows how to do it (IC). His school system failed him badly as well. Now he's talking about the college technical programs he can get into with a GED.
I'm just so glad that systems like IC and the Big Three are out there to help people finish their education non-traditionally. We don't have to play by "the rules" anymore. No more BS! :p
