I was on here in 2010 but I suffered more ill luck with a car accident and then losing my job so I am on here trying again. I have hardly any if any credits from about a semester of community college. I want to get as far as I can toward a business, law, or finance degree I was wondering if you could direct me toward which of the big three would be the best choice based on what your experiences are I would also probably want to be able to transfer my credits if need be to a "well known" college to graduate from if possible. I would need to start at the bottom and work my way up. Any input would be greatly appreciated and I truly appreciate any and all help and advice.

Sorry to hear about the accident and your job loss.
Thomas Edison State College would be a great place to get a business degree. I just finished up my last bit of coursework for a BS Business Administration with a concentration in Finance. If you're wanting to transfer to a "well known college/university", then start this way may not be your best rout. Why not get your degree through Thomas Edison State College, or one of the other "Big 3", and then go for a masters at a well known college. Its possible.
BTW There have been a few IC members that have gone onto very good law schools and masters programs. Sorry, I don't have any names that I remember right now though.
BSBA in Finance from TESC by fall 2011
Total: 147 credits

Thank you so much for the quick reply is there a reason that TESC would be the better choice just wondering if there was a certain advantage to the other big 3

1) Thomas Edison doesn't require a capstone course, meaning you don't have to take any courses with them.
2) Thomas Edison allows you to transfer FEMA credits directly to them rather than through an expensive credit banking college.
That's all I can think of.

:iagree:
At TESC you can knock out your free electives using the FEMAs. That's about 24 or 27 (can't remember) credits right off the bat.

Those 24-27 free elective credits don't apply to the business degrees though, where there are only 6 free elective credits.
Pretty much any "well known college" is going to make you take 30 credits with them and probably will not accept all of your previously earned credits in transfer, which is another reason why the Big Three are being recommended to you.

Thank you all so much so from what I understand for the degrees I am looking to take TESC seems to be the best place and then I can take the credit once I get my Associates and Bachelors and transfer them to get my masters from another college that is great news..... What are my next steps has anyone gone through top to bottom and received their business , finance, law degree from them and could point me in the right direction of the classes I should take. Thanks so much. I appreciate everything I am so excited to get started.

For law school, it really doesn't matter what courses you take- get good grades and as good an LSAT score as you can. However, you should not go to law school unless you can get into a Top 14 school, and perhaps even only a Top 6, which is an extremely tall order. The debt load for law school isn't worth it for the vast majority of people.
For an MBA for an MS in Finance, make sure you check the admissions requirements for any foundation courses and knock them out as part of your bachelor's, and be aware that you will need calculus and statistics for any MBA or masters level program worth its salt. Don't get into too much debt for an MBA.

AMEN! Newly minted lawyers face enormous student loans and a glut of lawyers all trying to make a living. Terrible career choice for the vast majority of students. Have a look at JDunderground before deciding on a law school path.
