I started out on this board to try and get a BALDAS at TESC and quickly realized I should just go for the BALS since its more of a real degree.
Then I changed my mind and went for the BSBA CIS which I am almost done with. I just need org behavior to complete it I think.
I went in today and checked on my progress toward a BA Math and BA Math/Nat sci, I am somewhat close to those as well only needing 3 more UL classes.
Then I checked BALS and I have fulfilled all of the requirements for that degree. Funny how that wasn't even on my radar anymore.
I would like to have a BA Math and BSBA CIS but I might settle for a BALS or BA Math/Nat sci.
Its just not that easy to grab UL math/nat sci credits. The TECEP in computer networking should be simple for me so thats one. I need two more UL math/nat sci and don't know where else to get them in a distance learning format or preferably through testing out.

With your certs and experience you're probably at that level where your college major really doesn't matter, but if you're one class away from completing an industry related major I would push through and get'er done. I finished mine in 2008 and I know in the interviews that I've participated in since then some employers have liked the fact that I had a related major, including my current one.

Yeah im definitely pushing through since I spent good money and time on the business specific tests and classes. It is also good prep for an MBA. I honestly think i could test out of an MBA now if that were possible. Of course I'd re study each topic but I don't see the core curriculum as being anything im not already comfortable with.
I just might go for two bachelors degrees. It would be good to have a math degree i think.

Hey Ryoder,
Quite interested in where you are getting your maths credits from. For the BA Maths at TESC you need Calculus I, II and III; Linear Algebra and Stats; plus another 18 credits of UL maths on top of this; where did you get those credits from and/or what have you already got maths-wise?
A short thread on DL post-calculus maths courses was discussed here

I'm considering pursuing Excelsior's BS Accounting degree but at the same time am concerned about wanting / needing another BS down the road and most universities will not grant a third BS, so that is something to keep in mind. Currently I'm looking at other AAS / MBA / DS programs as well.

I was in the engineering dept at USF in Tampa from 1994-1997 and took Eng Calc I-III and Differential Equations.
Thats why I am close to the math degree.
I took linear algebra too but left early since my teacher was from the Carribbean and was incomprehensible. I wish I had finished that class. I was in for about 2-3 weeks and dropped out with no cost in drop-add week.
So to finish a math degree I need linear algebra and some upper level math classes.
The thing is my transcript shows my Calc I and II as 3000 level but TESC transcribes them lower. The same goes for my Physics with calculus I and II.

Great Job Ryoder! I think you should go for two degrees if you can do it with relative ease.

Thanks!
I'm thinking about it seriously. Of course ease is of paramount importance to me.
I have SO many engineering courses sitting unused below the degree line its terrible. I have a bunch of humanities classes too. Thats why the BALS came so easily, I took a bunch of nonrelated classes and CLEP tests just enjoying the learning. So now I'm trying to figure out how to rope out a degree from it all without spending another 3-4 months on it.
Comp SCI
Math
Math/Nat Sci (easiest)
Those are my options.

3-4 months in the grand scheme of things really isn't bad....
Do whatever makes you happiest. I only have a few tests left and it makes me sad. That's why I think I'll end up with another undergrad eventually. With both DS and DH doing it on a much slower pace than me, I will probably end up sitting for more tests when I'm done with my BS.

Okie, so you need 6 upper level maths courses plus linear algebra for the maths major. Brigham Young do a DL course in linear algebra in addition to propositional/predicate logic courses. The latter of these is at upper level.
That still leave 5 upper level courses in maths. If you could do this, it would be pretty awesome but without wanting to take anything away from you, I think it's unrealistic the 21 credits can be done in 4 months.
edit: Okie, BYU also do history of maths at UL which is listed as a suggested elective on TESC's credit distribution. That leaves 4 UL courses. So, could be a couple of exams from Ohio State (but they are quarter hour system ). Rest of UL courses on the thread posted earlier (expensive) as NAP has done a lot of research since EC shut down the GRE Subject Maths Test route. Hopefully your USF college has some more courses. The cheapest I've seen a maths degree by distance learning is with the UK's Open University but that still requires some residency and semesters are pretty inflexble. It would be pretty cool to get a maths major from this board; I just don't see anyone doing the UL major requirements in less than 6 months without the GRE Subject Test.
