Humanities Test

Anyone have trouble with humanities?? Pass, fail, trouble, questions??

Was it difficult? Did Instacert prepare you fully or did you use other materials? If so, what??

I used the REA and Princeton's Cracking the Clep books. Those were very good. I'd also taken the 3 Literature tests before so that definitely helped. I passed with 75. Probably the most helpful thing would be to take and review as many practice tests as possible in order to become familiar with the wide range of topics on which you could be tested.

I didn't use InstantCert, but I did use comparable flashcards. They were helpful, but not sufficent on their own, personally. I used a ton of really random websites to study (see the link above). Hi there,

I am just starting to study for the Humanities test, and without having "any" previous experience from which to draw in any of the areas (poetry, literature, painting, sculpture, architecture, music, film, and dance), I find myself more nervous about this one than either of the two previous tests I've taken. Although I passed the two others, it wasn't by a huge margin. Since this is a 6-unit (and the others were only 3-units), I am going to give myself nearly a couple of months to study/prepare. I have tentatively scheduled to take the test 2/25, but since this is the last test I need to take to complete my degree and I DO NOT want to wait several months to retest, I need to pass this one and will push my test into March, if necessary. I rented a couple of the recommended texts and bought one (Adventures in the Human Spirit--Bishop; Exploring the Humanities-Creativity and Culture in the West--Adams; and The Humanities through the Arts --Martin/Jacobus). I also have the College Board Prep Guide with the 90-question practice test, but in all honesty, with so many topics, different depths of questions, and half the test covering factual information (authors, works, etc.), it's an uncomfortably daunting task. I hope the 60-day cram works, but I'll take longer if I am not feeling right. Good luck to you.

Please help... for sure I need help not sure where to start, Humanities & Analyzing and Interpreting Literature, I am new on this InstantCert DegreeForum not sure if I am using it correct. How do I PM??

For Analyzing and Interpreting Literature, you should start with a practice test and review it to see where your strengths and weaknesses are. This CLEP is just about memorizing literary terms and being able to comprehend the passages you read and answer questions about them.

For Humanities, take a practice test (REA or Petersons) and see how you do. Then review the questions you missed, and learn the right answer. Go over Lady Grace's resources list and see if you can define everything on it. Use Google or Wikipedia to search unfamiliar terms and concepts. Then take and review more practice tests. You should be learning more and more though this process Lastly, take the practice test in the Official CLEP Study Guide—if you get above 60% on it, you should be ready to take the test.
