ALEKS can be frustrating for people who don't like math. ALEKS is not the easiest way to go for math, it's just the cheapest way. ALEKS forces you to know the material, and not just barely.
Most people prefer Straighterline if they don't remember or haven't done much math, and don't want to learn as much math.

Did you submit it in your ACE account?

Awesome! Just great! Go and get the ACE credit and then take another course for credit...

I'm stuck with Intro to Statistics. The initial assessment seems too tough to pass

It's a beast, I failed to pass it, so I went elsewhere for the credits. I haven't tried Study.com Stats, but should be easier.
Straighterline, failed once at 65% for Intro to Stats, passed with Business Stats 85% - I've been recommending it ever since.
Here are my recommendations:
Khan Academy -

Patrick Just Math Tutorials - Patrickjmt.com
Youtube videos - Search your math topic

Yeah ALEKS stats is kind of hard. Much harder than their algebra, trig, etc. Study.com is much easier.

Basically, the only thing going for ALEKS is that it's no proctored, otherwise, it's just a practice workbook.
ALEKS is a beast, it requires the answers to be "exactly" as the system wants it, even though there are other options of writing the same answer.
Essentially, it's failing you due to it's artificial intelligence is set to a specific answer. You think you almost had all of it, but it won't compute.
Their courses are "harder" than any other math course I've taken elsewhere, so for Statistics, I got mad and took it at Straighterline instead.

Get yourself acquainted with more math at the level you're taking, and try to work those questions "slowly" like take an hour for 1.
Don't go through the entire set in an hour or two, it's not a timed event. Finish off a few sections of the pie and force the assessment.
I'm really glad I read this post by bjcheung77. My initial "attraction" to ALEKS is not only that it is non-proctored but also it gives those who have math anxiety the comfort of knowing that they can "screw up" until they achieve a 70% Assessment. So basically non proctored+unlimited chances=ALEKS advantage over traditional exams.
However, I keep reading about people who prefer taking Statistics outside of ALEKS. I guess once you reach a certain level of mathematical ability ALEKS then becomes a chore/time waster over a traditional proctored exam?
