How to sell a lot of video games?
#1
I'll start by admitting that I have a problem. I can't resist getting great deals.

I shop all the time on Craigslist and the local Facebook sales sites looking for things I can buy and sell, but my addiction lies mostly with video games. For the last 5-10 years I've accumulated a TON of consoles, games, controllers, and extras.

I did OK selling on Amazon and eBay, but I've been slacking as of late with the selling side of things. I rarely play the games and I'm not attached to much.

My question is: what have you found to be the best avenue for selling, or what would you recommend in my situation? I don't mind shipping the smaller things that can fit in padded envelopes or small flat rate boxes, but I've lost money a few times with how expensive it can be to ship the bigger items. I'm also getting tired of the fees on Amazon and eBay as it really eats into the profit margin.

I like selling local, but I rarely get anything close to the going rate. Some gaming stores expressed interest in buying everything, but in order for them to make money on the deal they can't offer me much.

Thanks for any and all ideas!

donate your games, consoles and controllers to a recreation center, a nursing home, a youth facility or some other such place

then see if you can deduct the full full from your taxes

Don't do that with anything rare though. Whatever is donated will eventually become trashed. I am also a collector, some classics/rares are part of collectible history now and should not be intentionally shuffled off where they will be destroyed.

I would catalog everything you have and make a post online on a blog page or something that you can show people. Then you can take Paypal or w/e and ship them anywhere and skip the eBay/Amazon fees. Also, search for "eBay alternatives" there are other similar sites that have lower fees you could try selling on.

That's a neat idea, but thankfully my tax burden is fairly low.

Thanks for the suggestions! I'll definitely have to look into those alternative sites.

LOL, that's the same as me... not video games, but "technology" such as computer desktops, laptops, cell phones, etc.
I have them all lying in my garage when I'm done with them, collecting "dust" as I wanted to hard network them there.

Never got into that project of using Linux on those older systems, the cell phones I wanted to test apps/roms with ...
In the house there's already several cellphones, 4 laptops and 2 desktops, non networked but sharing the internet...

I enjoy keeping old tech and repurposing it. Especially tech that I used for years Smile
