How reputable Golden Gate University - San Francisco
#1
Can anyone explain to me how reputable this University is? What are the accreditations? and what programs are they good for?
So far all i know it is a private Law type University in the US and lacks any national accreditation if i am correct in my assumption, and what does WES say about the degrees from GGU?

Thank you in advance.

It's a reasonable question and it can be answered in several different ways.  One way is to simply state, as vle045 has done, that it's an accredited school and perhaps you need not know anything further.  If more info is desired you can look at rankings.  I'm not certain they mean much but perhaps it's safe to say that a school ranked in the Top 10 is likely to be better in some ways tha a school ranked at #1,000 (although this would be a good spot to drop into that "big fish in a small pond..." discussion).  We see that one ranking service has it at #622.  https://edurank.org/uni/golden-gate-univ.../rankings/    It would be difficult for me to say that there's a significant difference between a school ranked at 622 and a school ranked at 500, or even 400.  GGU is a small school with less than 300 undergad students.  It's one of those schools that has more grad students than undergrad.  They have a bunch of grad degrees on offer, mostly in the world of business.  They have a law school as well.  I've never known anyone to attend GGU but based on what I know I'd say it's a perfectly good school and you're likely to find their degrees useful in the marketplace.  I know that they offer a bunck of their programs online although I didn't check to see which ones, specifically.  It's not hard to imagine.  It's also not hard to imagine that you could find a school that cheaper, if that's what you're looking for.  My overall guess is that, as a school, it's firmly embedded in the middle third of US universities.  It's unlikely to turn anyone's head, either way but if for some reason a person was committed to this school, it's unlikely that they'll have any real problems with their degree

Thank you. This was exactly what i was looking in the answer, yes i can read the data and accrediations, know the sites to check on it. But i was looking more on the feedback from people and experience with said University and what people in the US think of it.

Now can someone also guide me on how do i check their WES degrees? thank you

I'm confused about what WES would have to do with GGU, then. GGU is a US institution. If you're American, WES has no bearing on a GGU degree. GGU is regionally accredited.

Just as I thought, you're an international student (not from Canada though), and interested in the upGrad programs... Upgrad is a unique provider, they partner with a few universities, not just in the UK/US, but in Australia as well, and more... I've written a few posts or threads about them, the partnership is great for those in India or developing countries, or for those looking at inexpensive dual diploma/degree options. As I mentioned in those posts before, they're trying to be the competition for other MOOC's such as Coursera, edX, FutureLearn and Udacity. Lastly, WES will have nothing on them... WES would only evaluate from the providing university, if they're outside Canada/US, otherwise you won't even need to use them.

I absolutely loved GGU, I went there in the 90's. All of their professors were required to have an outside occupation, and bring real-world experience to their classes. The teachers were all fantastic, none were all about theory, but real-world application. I got a 15cr Undergrad Certificate in Management, paid for by tuition reimbursement.

They have very few degrees - business-related ones & psych I think, and then they have a law school. They are well-regarded in CA, especially in the SF Bay Area where I lived.

Back in the day, they were one of the very few local schools that did not operate on a semester-based system, which was great, because I cannot do semesters - they just drag on and on. Once I found them, my GPA jumped considerably.

They also take 90cr of transfer, and accept ACE credit. They have a program with Study.com called GGU Aspire, so the 30cr there is only $9,000.

No idea what they're like now, especially regarding online. But they've been around for a long time, and still seem to be here, so I think their reputation is intact.
