This is a good post about a downside of TESU
I mentioned it, but this is a good example. https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-...#pid255437

Is EC 30 UL credits? The site was a bit confusing because it mentions UL in different areas. Thanks everyone for your input!
For vanity reasons I liked TESU because the name was better ("University" is nice, plus "Excelsior" is a silly name that seems a little illegitimate and there's a Charter Oak High School around here so it seems off to me).
For practical reasons TESU was still far cheaper at the time (they're still generally cheaper but things have evened out a bit for most degrees), and because creating a degree plan at TESU is much easier -- Equivalencies at the other schools were a bit of a gamble, their degree maps weren't as clear, and they require a lot more UL credit spread throughout the plan. Also, my existing credit worked very well at TESU.

I chose TESU because:
1. There was a lot more info on this forum to help guide me in what I could or could not take. 2. Dfrecore made a spreadsheet for me based on how my credits would come in. I only needed a little over 40 credits plus the capstone so I saw it would be fast and cheap. 3. The 30 UL credits needed at COSC would have taken longer. 4. I didn't care much for the COSC degree options. 5. I honestly don't know much about Excelsior. I remember looking at them but not seriously. 6. I had a lot of transcripts! I know this sounds dumb maybe but the cost to send all the transcripts 3xs plus application fees would have cost hundreds of dollars. I knew before I applied to TESU how most of my credits would come in. There were only two courses in question and they would have at least fallen into free electives, so they weren't wasted. I chose to spend those hundreds of dollars on courses and was able to start immediately, vs. waiting to be evaluated at the other schools.

I chose TESU because it was the easiest for me to understand what I needed to do to complete the degree. Plus, I felt like if I didn’t complete the major I started with, it’d be simple to backtrack to the BA LS. Which, oddly enough, I ended up doing to finish up faster.

I am definitely leaning towards TESU. How long does it take to hear back after applying? And then how long until you hear about your credits? Or do both happen simultaneously? I filled out an inquiry form last night for EC and they called me today so they're on the ball!
Great advice on this forum! I feel like I finally have a path and I'm anxious to hear back so I can finally be enrolled.

Once you apply, you'll hear back within a week or so. The evaluation takes 25 business days. You'll want to order any transcripts you have immediately. I could probably go back through my old posts for specific dates, but I want to say, from memory, I applied right around Christmas and heard back by end of January. In the meantime I knocked out a ton of ACE credits and was working on my Guardian scholarship.

I chose Tesu because of the information available. The price was right and they evaluated a ton of credits.
That being said, I'm pausing before starting the capstone to consider Excelsior. The name is terrible but they are offering a ton of credits for my PLA. I may end up better off there. Time will tell!
1. Prep Phase: Hopeless, 15 credits, need a BA fast, never heard of TESU
2. TESU BALS: 121/120 (9 months) 3. RN Paramedic Bridge - Excelsior (9 months + CPNE wait) 4. WGU RN -> BSN 5. BSN -> MSN/FNP

After official evals, TESU said 27 credits needed and Excelsior College said only 4 needed. I went to Excelsior College.

Personally, I would consider them for health degrees. |
