I watched videos 1-14 at the folowing link Resource: A Biography of America I also read through the pass your class book that someone on this forum put up. I listened to some history audio books as well, but felt they were overkill.
Things I would recommend remembering are; Chronology of important events (particulary just prior to the civil war and the abolition movement), and womens suffrage. The thing that got me was famous quotes and knowing who it was that made them. Hope this helps!
