Financial Accounting...CLEP or DSST?
#11
That typo was in their last catalog, too. Actually, it wasn't a typo in the traditional sense because the CLEP used to be 6 credits, fulfilling both the ACC101/102 requirement at TESC. Now that it's only a 3 credit exam, it only fulfills the ACC 101 requirement.

Someone really needs to pay close attention to updating that info in their next catalog!

Passed the DSST today with a 72. Studied one Instantcert module per day six days a week for six months. Probably overkill but I had initially intended to take the CLEP. After reading posts on this forum (somewhere) that said "if your school accepts both DSST and CLEP, take the DSST since it involves less computational questions." Well, my school, Bismarck State College, accepts both so I then set my sights on the DSST. The DSST gives you two hours to complete the exam vs. the CLEP's 90 min. and instead of five choices for answers to each question the DSST had only four. Min. score on the DSST for me was a 47 but for the CLEP it was 50.
I used Fundamentals of Accounting 10th ed. by Needles, Powers, and Crosson which the school wanted $180 for but I found used online for $5. Memorize the basic accounting formulas and study the flashcards until you know them by heart. Use a textbook to look up anything you have questions about and remember that there are a few errors in the flashcards. Good Luck.
