I saw someone post the other day that a certain college in NY(I forget which one) only charges $5.00 for each CLEP test that you take.
I would like to ask everyone out there, do you know of anyplace that charges a low fee for taking the CLEP? I live in PA near MD line and driving to NY would be a bit out of range for me, but if there are any others????
Of course, I could always take the Chinatown bus.

Well, I think that the $5 is a fee along with the CLEP test fee itself about $70 per exam. You could join the Armed Forces and take them for free!

The 5 dollar fee was for DSST tests. the college that offers the $70 DSST fee and the $5 test administration fee was New York Institute of Technology. The Central Islip campus on Long Island. I took one test there. She only gives the test on fridays and only has one computer. She only offers 9am and 1pm so only 2 people can go a day. Also last time I was there (which was last friday) she was saying she was booked till the end of March. good luck finding a place that offers it cheap.

I take my tests at University of Phoenix...they let me take 2 tests on the same day but only charge me one admin. fee. They are really nice and it is very easy to schedule tests. I have even scheduled one for the same day. They have enough computers in the Boise campus so my 2 sisters and 2 brothers and I can all test at the same time!
If your test site is nice you might see if you can haggle them down on the fee..the worst they can say is no!

goldpaws Wrote:5 bucks! Boy, I would love to just take CLEPs for $5. I pay $65 to CLEP and pay $15 for the administrative fee. Essays are an additional $10.
This is for my nearest CLEP center here in TX; the university I will attend in the future has different rates.

Ok - everyone calm down. There are no $5 CLEPs. CLEP charges the same fee to everyone everywhere, and then the testing center where you take the test has the option of charging a fee. I have had to write 2 checks each time. The first to CLEP, the second to the Community College. So, anyone talking about $5 is talking about the testing center fee.
