The courses you will need to take at UMPI, I don't see available elsewhere. They're mostly UL courses. The exception is English Comp. Sophia has them both but they are MUCH FASTER and EASIER at UMPI. I took Eng Comp 2 on Sophia and dropped it. I was 2 months in and still not able to submit my final paper. You write 5-7 papers for Eng Comp 2 on Sophia. You write 1 short paper at UMPI for Eng Comp 2. I finished the entire course in 3 days - including the rough draft and final version of the Final Assessment.

I wouldn't take Principles of Finance from Sophia. It will only transfer as a general elective. You don't need these either:
Project Management 3
Introduction to Information Technology 3
Introduction to Relational Databases 3
Introduction to Web Development 3

Introduction to Sociology: Embracing Diversity and Collaboration 3

You do need Environmental Science, Human Biology, and Introduction to Psychology from Sophia.

Thanks! I've added Environmental Science (in fact I'm almost done with it at Sophia) and plan to do Biology at SDC for the lab credit.

Also I was planning on Intro to Sociology instead of Intro to Psych for the GEC requirement and Sophia Project Management as an elective --- but I'm interested in feedback on that.

Do you know if there is a Sophia course or SDC that will cover BUS 200: Intermediate Business Computing?
Any chance you have your final course list figured out for this degree?

I've delayed going back to school long enough and decided to go with accounting instead of marketing and well otherwise am basically in your boat.

Plan on using your degree guide aside from the college of the desert part since that isn't one I'm personally needing lol

Thanks in advance!

Hi there!

My plan is very much a work in progress.  I can share my current plan, but others on this forum are WAY better at this than I am.  Here's what I am planning so far:

Gen Ed:

Instant Cert:
American Government
Spanish

SDC:
Interpersonal Communication
Intro to Meteorology  (if this counts as the lab requirement which still needs to be verified)

Sophia:
Introduction to Ethics  (DONE)
Introduction to Sociology
Art History I (DONE)
Introduction to Statistics (DONE)
College Algebra (DONE)
Human Biology
Environmental Science (DONE)
Art History II
U.S. History I (DONE)

UMPI:
ENG 101
ENG 121

BA in ACCOUNTING REQS:

InstantCert:
Managerial Accounting

SDC:
BUS 361: Intermediate Accounting I
BUS 362: Intermediate Accounting II
Advanced Operations Management
BUS 464: Advanced Accounting

Sophia:
Introduction to Business
Accounting
Principles of Finance
Business Law (in progress)
Communication at Work
Macroeconomics (in progress)
Microeconomics (DONE)

UMPI:
BUS 200: Intermediate Business Computing
BUS 242: Spreadsheet Applications
BUS 348: Cost Accounting
BUS 352: Business Law II
BUS 376: Independent Auditing
BUS 377: Federal Taxation I
BUS 378: Federal Taxation II
BUS 440: Business Analytics
BUS 466: Governmental and Not-for-Profit Accounting
BUS 469: Strategic Professional Communication
BUS 489: Business Policy & Strategy

MAT 140 Business Math may also be required -- it is a little unclear.

I am still debating the SDC courses or whether I want to take the ones at UMPI.  It sounds like the UMPI courses are easier and would be better if you plan to go for a CPA license as end game but SDC might be cheaper, and can be knocked out before committing to a whole UMPI semester.  Not sure yet.

AND -- I do agree with rachel83az  (*hi*) on posting your own thread -- the other members are very helpful and give good advice.
