Help choosing a degree I can complete ASAP
#1
Hi DegreeForum,

I have been enjoying reading the posts and how helpful everyone is.  Heart

I need your help. I hold a senior IT role, and my focus is on IT Service Management. I currently hold ITIL V3  certifications. However, what I lack is a degree, and it's really impacting my confidence with a major change that I need to make soon.

I live in NJ and would like to pursue a degree in ANY field that can maximize the credits I already have. Ideally, I would like to obtain the degree from an institution that allows me to use the most CLEP, DSST, Sophia, or any other online accredited college credit-granting course providers.

Can you help me make the most of these credits toward obtaining a degree? Thank you for your time and assistance.

I have applied at TESU to have my credits evaluated, which are listed below:

Location: New Jersey
Budget: no budget
Study Habits: I do well doing self driven online courses, as well as testing out via CLEP, DSST
What kind of degree: Bachelor's

I would send in for a Pierpont degree with Info Systems concentration -- take thw Google IT course.

Then I would opt for UMPI for maybe the Project Management Minor degree.
Currently:
UCA (University of Central Arkansas) Ph.D. Change Leadership for Equity and Inclusion

Completed:
WGU MSML
TAMUC BAAS Org Leadership
PMP, CSM, CSPO, Google Project Management Certificate
Sophia 19 Classes | Study.com 12 Classes

You live in New Jersey so right off the bat id lean with TESU. It’s Even if not I would still. I like the way their programs are laid out. Also they’re  service is great. My counselor has always replied back to any inquiries or questions usually in a manner of minutes. You probably have at least 45 credits so with your background could knock out one of the following in a year or so. Maybe sooner.

I would do BACS or BS CIS

@EVE6, Welcome to the board, that's a very good compact yet concise post. Having said that, it's still missing bits and pieces of information asked for in the addendum and template, such as your commitments, etc. Sometimes without having a bigger overview or overall picture of your situation, it's hard to gauge what options would be best for you. I'm torn between two recommendations, TESU vs UMPI for various reasons... Here's the addendum/template... Link: https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-...Area-works

The main issue you're going to have at TESU is that these credits are not applicable to most degrees. Like, the EDM credits - those can only be used as Free Electives. So that will eat up 18cr out of the 30cr allowed there. Then 9cr from UofPhx, and 9cr from DSST will overflow that area.

So, my thought is that Excelsior would maybe give you more space for those credits (they have a BLS that allows for 60cr of Free Electives), if they will bring those all in the same way as TESU.

UMPI will obviously be cheaper, but if you're struggling with CBE, then you may not want to go back. So that just leaves TESU and EU. My vote is to apply to EU and see what they say.

I might take a huge chunk of Sophia courses before applying though - and then send them all to TESU as well, to see what your degree will look like.
