Soup,
I'm having a senior moment today and cannot remember your degree program...anyway I wonder if Principles of Supervision (MAN-201-DE) would apply as a GenEd for you.
I did a petersons and aced it cold. Very easy for someone who has basic supervisory experience. Maybe call advising and see if they would approve it - do to your homeland security/emergency management specialty. Supervision is core to your skillset.
BTW, I'm loving these new emoticons too!cheersmate

Thanks Bric! I'm pretty sure TESC will only take that as a free elective. I've asked about several of the Business courses before and they won't budge. I hope I can nail down these last few today so I can go full speed ahead. I was also considering Humanities and natural Science since they are 6 hours courses but I think they are both study intensive. Oh and :nopity: for me (figured I'd use another emote).
Oh and my degree program is Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness. I've enjoyed taking the TESC courses if anyone is interested. I would recommend this program in a heartbeat.
soupbone Wrote:Thanks Linda! I took SS&H last year so I'm not sure how much of it I've retained since I've been through so much since then. I'm getting a little nervous now winding these last 21 credits out. I know ECE Cultural Diversity has to be one of them since it is required for my degree. This leaves me with 18 unknowns for General Ed. I'm certain I'm taking DSST Intro to Computing (looks fairly easy) and DSST Technical Writing (also looks easy). I am racking my brain trying to determine which ones will fill the remaining 12 hours. I'm almost in panic mode because this is the end of my degree and I'm shooting for a June graduation with TESC. I'm panicked because it takes them so long to evaluate credit and I really need to be done by June. So realistically I need to be done in the next two weeks with these tests so you can see why I'm really nervous.
If I take off two days of work this week and a few next week would I be able to knock all of these out? These are the types of questions I'm faced with and it's confusing. I've been reading the forums and the IC feedback section trying to hone in on what would be the quickest and easiest for me but it just makes me that much more nervous for some reason. I like the "IC only" thread but I'm still stuck on those last 12 hours. I feel like I need to :puke: (love the new emoticons )
CLEPS taken and passed so far---SS&H, English Comp, A&IL.
Thanks again guys for all the advice!
*EDIT* Forgot to add that I'm still considering the ALEKS Intro to Stats but when I looked at it the other night I was intimidated for sure. I blazed through the other Maths but word problems are my achilles heel. I'm also a visual learner so I'm trying to find options that might fit this criteria as well.

Darn It! It's a pretty neat little test..code for quick & easy...
I'm sure you will do well with the exams you've listed! Good luck!

oh no you don't. I am NOT a math person, my highest math to date (including high school) was TESC's MAT102 Math for Liberal Arts. I have never even taken real algebra. I'm rocking out stats and so can you. So far, I am about 45% complete and my last assessment (37%) was a while ago- so I'm looking for a much higher score pretty soon. I'm 15 hours in, which isn't much. If I knew algebra, I'd be much further along. You an do it- and probably finish before me too! :ack:

I took a course at TESC GS and finished the end of April I then took 3 CLEP exams in the next 6 weeks, the last one on June 12. On June 13 I put in my application for my AA graduation the deadline was June 30. I called around June 25 and said I needed proof I had met the requirements so I could apply for a job. ( I had first called College Board the CLEP people and knew my transcripts had been sent) On July 1st I got a letter in the mail telling me I had been approved for graduation and 2 copies of an official letter I could give to employers/schools. So don't over stress yourself trying to do all of this in 2 weeks. I would say if you take the last exam by the end of April that give 8 weeks and plenty of time.
Good Luck Let us know which ones you decide on maybe some of us have Study guides to help you.

Thanks for the encouragement! I'm scheduling Intro to Comp and Technical Writing for Thursday and I need to figure out what to schedule for Tuesday. I'm taking off Wednesday through next Tuesday to try and knock a few of these out. I'm confident about passing Intro to Comp and Tech Writing. I'm thinking about taking one of the 6 credit courses (Humanities or Natural Science) on Tuesday although I'll be honest I haven't looked at them yet. If I feel uncomfortable I will just cancel it but I think I can get at least one of them done by Tuesday with full days of study. :willynilly:
If I can get this accomplished that will give me 12 more credits with only the ECE Cultural Diversity and 6 more unknowns. Linda, the deadline for June submittal is April 1st. That's why I feel like I'm pressed for time. I also have a Penn Foster course in progress as well and I'm not sure how long it takes for them to submit to ACE either.
Jennifer--Aleks is still on the table but I'm really gonna have to talk myself into it. Those other three (especially Trig) kicked my butt even though it all came flooding back. Stats was always a very weak spot for me even though it is Algebra based.

Well I scheduled Intro to Comp and Technical Writing for tomorrow at 1pm. I hope I'm ready but after reading over each subject I'm not sure there's a whole lot more I can study to prepare for them. I would have scheduled it for Thursday but I felt like that would cut into my next set of courses which I'm going to try and get in on Tuesday. I'm still thinking possibly Humanities or Natural Science. If I take Natural Science I may try Astronomy along with it since it overlaps a bit. So, I'm off work from tomorrow until next Tuesday. That gives me 5 full days of studying for the next set of courses. You think that's enough? :roflol:

If you have anything left on ALEKS just take the assessment- I'd bet you started at least in the 40's-50's (I started at 17%!)

I am the proud new owner of 6 more credits! I blew Intro to Computing out the water with a 468! Technical Writing caught me off guard a little but I still managed a 54 somehow. So Tech Writing fills in my remaining Humanities, ECE Cultural Diversity is required, and it leaves me with
12 general ed hours left. ALEKS Stats is still in my thoughts Jennifer (:roflol: ) and I'm still thinking Natural Science and Astronomy on Tuesday. Like I said I have off of work through Tuesday so I'm going to give myself 8 hours a day until Tuesday. Do you guys think this is enough time? For the record I took Biology at my B&M school in 2006 and made a B but I'm not sure what I remember. Any suggestions are appreciated! :willynilly:

Well I'm down one day of studying so far (with a few hours left) and I'm positive I will be able to test at least Natural Science on Tuesday. I'm using SpeedyPrep because IC does not have a NS section. I'm also using this site
Biology4Kids.com: Site Map (don't laugh it's good) hilarious and a little Wikipedia for other terms. So far I'm still in Biology but it's also 50% of the exam according to CLEP. I still have four more full days left so I
think I'm in good shape. :willynilly:
