Here is the Addendum:

Commitments: Full-time career, spouse, 4 kids, 2 cats.

Dedicated time to study: I can do school work on Friday night through Sunday and maybe 1-2 weeknights.

Timeline: ASAP

Tuition assistance/reimbursement: Probably none after I finish this degree in March.

Context: I have a job in a place I would like to stay. I am in the accounting department and wish to be an accountant. My place of employment requires an actual accounting degree and GPA determines pay. I would like to minimize cost and do not think I have the stamina for 2 more years of school.

Looking for guidance on the best course between probably UMPI BA Accounting or SNHU BS Accounting. Which would be cheapest and quickest?

Thanks!

I ran out of characters, but in case it is unclear, I will be completing my BSBA from SNHU in Feb/March 2025. I'm seeking advice for what I should do after to get my Accounting degree. Thank you for your time!

@tiffeg, Welcome to the board, great intro post with the addendum and template, plus additional information. From all that detail including your last updated sentence added-on, this is what I recommend: Graduate from UMPI BA Accounting before you finish your SNHU BSBA and have a double business degree! Apply, transfer for all credits, start Fall Session 2 and graduate in December. Voila!

UMPI is probably your best bet, and many people get a GPA of 3.75 or higher there.

You can probably complete an accounting degree there in 1 or 2 terms @ $1700 per term.

Once you complete your SNHU degree, your general ed requirements will be waived at UMPI.

Be sure you are transferring in max credits to SNHU so you can complete your degree ASAP.

Also, check state licensing and make sure they take ACE credits or don't have any unusual courses that you must take.

Thanks for the replies!

I have spoken with an advisor at SNHU so I know I will only have 10 classes to complete for the Accounting degree but it's just hard to tell how many I would have to complete at UMPI without knowing if my classes will translate to the UMPI classes. I think I would have to complete more than 10 but might be able to do it cheaper and faster since it is self-paced. With SNHU, I might only be able to take one class per term since most of the requirements I have left are Accounting classes that likely have prereqs.

So, to elaborate on what I mentioned earlier, you have a budget of $1K/class, you don't need that much of a budget and complete the UMPI BA Accounting cheaper, easier, faster than your SNHU BSBA. I would try to complete the requirements for the UMPI BA Accounting by end of Fall 2 in one simple session if you have the energy and time to get things done. You can go for another SNHU BSBA with a different concentration afterwards (not Accounting, do something else). Note: If your UMPI BA Accounting has lesser than 10 remaining classes and you need to chose at least 3 or 4 electives, I would recommend taking the 3-4 classes that can transfer into the MAOL later.

So apply to UMPI and see what transfers. It's free to apply. You just have to pay for your transcripts.

Considering that you can complete 10 courses at UMPI in 1 or 2 terms which is 16 weeks total, it's faster and cheaper than SNHU. SNHU limits you to 2 courses per term. UMPI doesn't have a limit.
