Hello, I have been hanging around reading about how everyone is getting it done!
I have about 64 college credits and would like to get my bsba in hospital health care administration from tesc. I am a litlle unsure of route to take, and have some general questions, if someone wouldn't mind answering them for me.
Should my first step be a transcript eval?
Can I take cources at Saylor and have a proctored exam and get credit for them? That is what I am getting from posts, I just want to make sure I understand.
Same question re Aleks math.
Then, did i read correctly that I could take and pay for 8 tests at tesc and not have to pay the roughly 3,000-ish tuition? Is this a good deal?
I down loaded the degree plan from TESC website.
Can I take test and have my results sent to TESC before I enroll?
Any responses will be appreciated. I read alot on this forum, but it is just kind of blurring together.
Thanks, Suzanne

Which courses do you already have? List them as "ENG 101 English Comp I 3 hrs." Also let us know if they are from a university or community college, and whether the are semester or quarter hours.
BA, MA, EdS, MMT, etc.
83 hours of ACE-worthy credits

Suzanne, Welcome to the forum! It's a journey we are all on so a few mistakes here and there isn't going to matter much.
The first step is an evaluation of your current credit at whatever school you want to enroll in, TESC This costs about $80+ and is unofficial which means once you enroll they may change their mind. Usually they are valid for about 6 months an "usually" transfer in officially fairly similar to the unofficial evaluation. Since TESC has some serious fees many people use a degree plan from this site and others to plan what else they need before they decide to enroll.
This means they can take CLEP tests and DSST test to make up what they don't have in Gen ed's and core subject matter and then transfer the whole lot in for the official evaluation and work on the remaining credits at TESC so they can get it done in a year for the one set of fees, things have changed slightly with TESC in that there are other enrollment programs which don't incur so many fees, Sanantone has experienced opinion on the best method as do others.
You'll only be able to transfer those credits which you gained a grade C or above so if any of the above courses didn't get a grade C or above you should edit it till you get the transferable ones. Depending on how long ago your attempted credits were you may be able to get "forgiveness" for them so they don't go towards your GPA (TESC students will have better comments on their policy)
Don't forget that gaining college credit by taking exams is one of the reason's we're here. That's mainly possible through the flashcards made available by the owner of this forum : InstantCert Plus of course your hard work in learning and reviewing

Not to try to make you change your mind if you are dead set on a BSBA, but consider a BSAST in either health services technology or technical studies too. The reason I state this is because you may get it done faster. If you were ever contemplating graduate school for say a master's in health care administration it could get you their faster. Like I said not trying to change minds, but I am just throwing ideas out there. Either way good luck

Suzanne, do you already have your LPN/ LVN license? You might be able to use those vocational nursing credits at COSC or Excelsior if you already have your license.

KayV, ERHCB,and SMF6824,
Thanks for taking the time to respond to my questions, and the welcome. I kind of thought transcript eval would be the place to start, I just did not want to wait weeks to get started. Now that I have decided to do this I am reved up.Not so much that I want to make Newbie mistatkes though.:p. The reason I decided on bsba in hospital healthcare is because that is exactly what I want to do. My long term goal is to be an administrator of a skilled nursing center. That said I am open to looking at other degree plans.I don't have to have this BSBA to get in the certification program.Any BS degree will work, I just thought it would look better on my resume to have this BSBA.I do have my LVN. I wasn't sure anyone would give me credit for that, it is about 23 years old. I will look into those other schools too. Do they charge for transcript eval?

The evaluation can't be completed until you apply and pay the admission fee. The fee is 75 dollars unless it has been changed since summer time and of course you will have to pay to have your transcripts sent. I only suggest a BSAST because it is so fast. You may only need a few courses / tests. Don't worry about the age of any courses because they will give you a decent amount for a credential or license. My plan is to go to graduate school afterwards and through researching grad schools I learned about graduate certificates. It is entirely possible for you to finish a BSAST really fast then get a graduate certificate in less than a year. You can find graduate certificates in Business, Healthcare Mgt, etc.... If you just do a google search. There are even accelerated masters degree programs that can be done in a year. Just apply and see what they give you. There is also a "what if" button for their academic evaluations so you can see where your credits fall into other degree programs. You can also apply to COSC and Excelsior to what they would award you; however, you will have to pay their application fees too. Good Luck

At Excelsior you get an unofficial evaluation before enrolling and then an official one upon enrollment. You could certainly send them into Excelsior for evaluation so you know were you stand from their point of view. TESC used to give an unofficial eval before enrollment has that changed? Not a good marketing ploy to say pay first and we'll let you know if we take your credits later.
