mayantek Wrote:Great answers, thank you. One last questions, it appears that I can go ahead and just take my CLEP test without having to register with Excelsior just yet. Is there an advantage to registering right now vs holding off until I pass a few CLEP tests?
thanks

You are correct. You can go to the Excelsior site and find out which credits you need- take tests- and wait. As you begin go "get schooled" in the process and gather more info, you will be able to better judge when you are within striking distance (1 year) of your degree. You have to pay a yearly fee- so no reason to do that until you can finish up in 1 year or less.

P.S. Gary, I can't wait to hear how it goes!!! I'm impressed that you are applying to so many schools (are you rich!? LOL) I am on the edge of my chair! You'll be setting the precedent for many here to follow.

Wow, tks for the interesting find Kelly. A concurrent BS/JD and you are CA bar eligible! Smile

Kelly Green Wrote:If you would like to practice law only in California, you could get your law degree from a non-ABA approved law school, some of which don't require a bachelor's degree for admission! One example is Northwestern California Law School:

Northwestern California University School of Law

I'm not making any specific recommendation to follow this path; I just found it fascinating that a person could take CLEP tests, be admitted to law school, get the degree, and pass the California bar! Great opportunity!

Here's a quote from the above-referenced site:

Law Study Program (B.S.L. Degree):

For Those Seeking Bar Eligibility -- Students seeking the Bachelor of Science in Law Degree with concurrent attainment of Juris Doctor Degree requirements and Bar eligibility must have completed 60 or more acceptable college semester units, or must as an alternative have adequate scores on anywhere from three to five selected and specific College Level Equivalency Program (CLEP) tests approved by the California Committee of Bar Examiners.

Curious
Does Excelsior allow a person to ,"walk" with the class for graduating?
