Heads up: Residency Waiver Fees MAY go up July 1st

Am I reading this correctly? You need to pay the residency waiver & graduation fee out of pocket? Or can a federal student loan be used?

I'm not sure about loans. But I'm pretty sure I saw a post on these forums (I literally just saw it) that aid can't be used towards the waiver. I am not sure if that includes loans. Someone link that post if you find. I believe it is super recent. Also correct me if I'm wrong.

I mean, I’ve know people who have used student loans to get plastic surgery. You can loan all you want, but you’ve got to pay it back. Well, you don’t have to, but..
If worst comes to worst I’d make the suggestion to get a 0% interest line of credit over other options..
As far as I know aid can’t be used towards fees like this.
I really hope that this increase isn’t too steep. I’m almost there

I believe one of the TESU goals with increasing resident waiver fees is similar to COSC in some way, get students to take more courses at TESU.

It would’ve been awesome if TESU had this information on the SDC partnership page or anywhere on their website for the past few years..

You can use a federal student loan to get out of the RW fee by taking 16 resident credits. When you take that much, the RW fee is no longer required since you don't need to waive the minimum credit requirement. You cannot use the federal student loan to pay the RW fee.

Wow. Even loans. I knew you couldn't use grants and such the pay the waiver fee but didn't know that included loans as well.

Yikes, wow. That’s information TESU should’ve been posted on their SDC partnership or general tuition webpages since this partnership was created or since that policy came into effect. This is super disappointing & very much a surprise.

While that is a big disappointment I'm assuming a private student loan can still be used to pay the fees?

To be honest, according to the schools, most students already take classes from them. Degree hackers like us are a minority.

I called the Office of Student Accounts this afternoon and asked the lady if she knew how much the residency waver fee was going to go up. If she is correct, she said it would be $3192, starting July 1st. So that's a $392 increase. Ugh! The Study.com discount for tuition at $379/credit will stay the same. I only have like five classes left, including capstone, so I may think about paying it before July 1st and get done within a year. What do you guys think?
