Has anyone else ended up with a ridiculous amount of college credits?
#14
I have 180 (not including 15 grad credits that's going towards my masters).
From 2004-2008, I got 3 Associate Degrees at my community college. I originally just went to get my AA in Business which was 68 credits. But then I discovered that if I just took 3 more classes (for a total of 10 credits - one of the classes was 4-creds), I could get an AA in Liberal Arts and an AA in Social Science. So I figured why not.
So that's 78.
At the end of 2008, I joined the Air Force and got credits banked at the Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) for completing Tech School and my cargo journeyman level 5 exams. So that was 30 just given to me for training.
Then I discovered I could get another AA Degree through the CCAF in Transportation Studies if I transferred some prior CC credit and took two free DSSTs on base worth 6 credits.
This is where I learned all about CLEPS and DSSTs and being able to transfer a lot of these earned credits to TESC (now TESU) to get a BA.
So I got my AA through CCAF which put me at a total of 114 undergraduate non-duplicated credits.
Then after some research, I signed up to get my BA at TESC. They told me I needed 36 more specific credits to get my BA. So I did those CLEPs and DSSTs. In the beginning, I didn't understand too much about what specific credits they'd accept for a Liberal Arts degree, so I took Business Law II and another Business-related exam and later realized that they didn't count. So I got 42 DSST credits.
So by 2010, I had a total of 156 credits.
Then in 2011, I planned on becoming a state auditor after I finished up with the Air Force and after looking at what the requirements were to become one, I went back to CC and got 21 more credits in Accounting and Auditing related courses and earned an Accounting AA Degree by end of 2012.
So I was at 177.
Then just recently, I realized in order to go for this promotion at my work, I needed 3 more credits in Statistics. So I just took the Stats for Behavioral Sciences course through ALEKS and just got it put on my ACE transcript.
So that puts me at 180.

I'm also going for my master's through Amberton and I have 15 total graduate credits completed so far towards it.

Just goes to show that there's always more that you can learn. Education is never-ending. Especially when certain credits are required for certain jobs.
