Halfway there. Need help with plan TESU BSBA Gen Mgmt
#1
I sent my application to TESU last night. Looks like from reading here some changes are on the way. I will more than likely do the enrolled options (if available) or the whatever is next residency waiver or, who knows.....

Can someone review where I stand? I'm in the middle of taking SL courses, so I'm including those in what's next. Below is my plan of attack for the BSBA General Management

here's what I have currently

Psy 150 - 3 s.h.
Eng 111 (Comp I) - 3 s.h.
Eng 114 (Tech Writing) - 3 s.h.
Bus 111 - International Bus - 3 s.h.
CIS 111 PC Literacy - 2 s.h. (CC credits, hopefully worth 3 at TESU)
Bus 153 Human Resource Mgmt - 3 s.h.
Princ of Mkting CLEP - 3 s.h.
Princ of Mgmt CLEP - 3 s.h.
Business Law CLEP - 3 s.h.
Fin accounting CLEP - 3 s.h.
Microeconomics - CLEP - 3 s.h.
Inter algebra - ALEKS - 3 s.h.
College Algegra - ALEKS - 3 s.h.
KAPLAN PLA - 3 s.h.
Institutes Ethics - 3(?) s.h.
TEEX - Cyber security 101
Cyber security 201
REL101- Intro to Religion - Straighterline - 3 s.h.
Nutri101 - Intro to nutrition- SL - 3 s.h.

working on right now

Intro to communications - SL
Intro to sociology - SL
Cultural Anthropology - SL

Plan to work on at SL next few months:

Western Civ I
US History I
US History II
Business Ethics
intro to business
Eng Comp 2
Intro to Philosophy
American Government
Macroeconomics
Organizational behavior
Statistics

Then,
Penn Foster Financial management

then, all I can find to satisfy these are as TECEPs. Any other sources?
Business in Society
Strategic management
Public Relations: marketing
Negotiations and conflict management
marketing communications

How am I on everything? I feel like I'm missing something, but I cannot figure out where.

Hello,

That seems good. You may want to create a spreadsheet and plug in the info for reference and tracking purposes.
You can then compare your courses with the ones recommended on the wiki. As for the concentration, you need at least one of each sub specialty, so check the wiki to make sure those TECEPS don't overlap each specialty.

First, TESU will definitely not give you more credits than you earned in a course. They may give you a waiver for it, and then you will have to make up that 1 credit in whichever area they say. But you won't get 3cr for a class that earns only 2cr.

Second, in looking at these courses, it looks like you're missing:
a science credit (either a 2nd course or a lab) - Rio Salado College offers a 1cr Nutrition Lab for $215, and is supposed to be VERY fast and easy.
Managerial Accounting (core requirement)
Managerial Communications (core requirement)
1 UL course for the AOS which has to be either ACC or FIN (you already have 1 done, and 4 planned, and they are all MAN & MAR courses, and if you take a course at CC, it is automatically LL) - there are several options to choose from, but the best choice if you're already taking SL courses is SL's Managerial Accounting, which comes into TESU as ACC-303 Cost Accounting (take it after you take Accounting II there)

You do not need to take Business in Society if you already took International Business - they duplicate (or count as the same in the list of core courses)

You have to take Strategic Management as a TECEP or course at TESU, they will no longer accept that course coming in from another source

My Human Resource Management and my International Business credits are both coming from a community college. Any chance they'll come in to TESU as UL?

Can someone have a look? I took the spreadsheet Dfrecore posted for the new costs estimates and worked that up for my degree plan.

I have two classed marked in RED that indicate community college courses, but it appears TESU requires UL. So, I don't know if those will fly in the UL

BLUE is in-process, meaning I'll complete those credits by next week. I'm still undecided about which direction to go on the AOS courses I'll need to complete.

I doubt it. I had also transferred HRM from a CC, and TESU transcribed it as HRM-231. I also had a few classes from CC which TESU's only equivalencies would have been UL courses, but instead they will denote them as 299, i.e. HRM-299, MAN-299 etc. In my experience, nothing transferred from CC gets UL credit.

You think the CC International business will slide right into the "Business in Society" slot with no problem? It doesn't appear to need to be UL from what I've been reading.

Only other question is my CIS 111 course from CC only having 2 credits. Will I need to take another class for 3 CIS credits? Or can I just fill in the missing 1 credit hour with something like Intro to Bus from SL?

First, the Core requirement for Business in Society is listed as International Business/Business in Society - yes, Int'l Business will work. I have Int'l Business for my requirement.

Second, TESU's policy is ALL CC credits come in as LL. No exceptions. But, most of the time it doesn't matter, since any particular course is not required to be UL; if you took every course in the whole BSBA as LL (through CC or SL or wherever else), it would only matter that 4 of the AOS courses were UL. There is nothing other than those 12 UL credits. You can have 2 courses in the AOS that are LL.

Third, they will take the course for 2cr, but I have no idea what they will require to replace the 3rd credit. They may require another course, there are several available that are cheap and easy to pass. They may require another credit in the AOS, GenEd, Free Electives - who knows?? But I wouldn't worry about it at this point. Once you find out, you can take care of it pretty easily.

Quick note: on the spreadsheet I made, I listed HRM as UL because the course I listed there was an UL course. That doesn't mean that TESU requires it, it's just how that course in particular transcribed. You just need to make sure you have 4 UL courses. Get them pre-approved if they're other than what I listed, just to double-check (for the ones I listed, it's well-known on the forum to come in as UL).

I don't see why your CC International Business wouldn't fulfill the Business in Society requirement. I don't remember ever reading anything that specified that it had to be UL credit. It just so happened to be that back when I enrolled the most popular way to fulfill that class was with SL Business Ethics, which came in as PHI-384.

After taking a second look at your General Ed Requirements plan, I would ask for a second opinion. But I don't think that the TEEX CIS-244 and CIS-111 will fall in there. I don't think General Ed requirements includes CIS? But I'm not positive. At least for me, none of my TEEX courses went there. Now they're all under my surplus category, but I think when I first transferred them in they were considered free electives.

I could be wrong, I'm sure others can clarify. More importantly, your updated TESU Academic Evaluation should be the final blueprint to go off of.

I moved the CIS 111 out of gen ed requirements. I moved it down to the core requirement. I put it there initially because the DSST Intro to computing is on Sanatone's gen ed requirements under physical and natural world. That's how it became an elective. Same for the TEEX.
