Hi everyone!
I have a friend who is half way through her BSN at SAU campus. She wants to finish the rest online, which she can do through the school she is currently a student at, but I just thought I would check with all the gurus here who know all the unique options out there. My question is this - is there any possibility that there would be a better/easier/less expensive school option for her to finish her BSN?
Cheers!

I did my BSBA through Liberty University online, they have an awesome BSN program, and I believe they offer it online also. Best of Luck to your friend!

It's probably going to be easier for her to continue on the path she is. Sometimes you can lose a lot of credit in transfer, especially when you get into non-liberal arts fields (nursing). You can always help her locate a few programs and apply to get an unofficial evaluation, but you asked for "better/easier/less expensive" and I don't think any of those 3 would be obtained through one of the big 3 for a BSN.

Thanks Jennifer. That's what my hunch was, but it never hurts to ask, right?
Are there good choices for where she could take some classes and then transfer those credits into her current program? For example, she needs to take chemistry, but her school's chemistry course isn't the best option because it is only offered at one time slot during the whole year. If she could take it through a different online school, it would potentially be a better choice.

Is she already an RN? If that is the case, then there is the chance that TESC or WGU can be cheaper and easier.

My question exactly - if she already has her RN and just needs to finish her BSN - then there are tons of online options. I know that some programs let you do your RN after the second year and the last two years are really just finishing the BSN.

Yes, she has her associates, still has to pass NCLEX though.

If already an RN, WGU is the cheapest option if she can make herself finish quickly. The second cheapest option for an RN is to find an online RN to BSN program in the state where she has legal residency. Almost every state has at least one state university offering online RN to BSN programs. If not an RN, switching to an online program halfway through is not an option because of the clinical requirements. BSN programs for people not yet RNs require hundreds of hours of in person clinical work.

So, hold up. This changes things. Why hasn't she passed the NCLEX? And is she not already in progress for her BSN? If she only needs her gen eds, then rather than looking at transferring into a different BSN, she just needs to look at her school's exam policy and she can test her gen eds.
"Cheaper" wasn't a criteria, but this is a cheaper route. It might not be easier, especially if she struggles with testing.

She's been too busy with her current BSN program (on campus) to finish her prep study for NCLEX. She went straight from the Associates into the BSN program. She's long completed all her gen eds, she's just down to the required nursing courses.
She's willing to transfer to a different BSN program if it would enable her to complete the BSN faster/cheaper than with her current school, even if that means she has to take an extra course or two, especially if some of them she could test out of (like excelsior?). Her current school costs $600 per credit, and they aren't geared up real well for online, even though they offer it. Scheduling with their online classes is really difficult because they only offer classes one period during the year, which is a pretty lousy arrangement. Especially to someone like me who comes from TESC where I could take any class any month!
I think the challenge is that she doesn't have NCLEX behind her. But, her semester ends in a couple weeks and then she plans on spending January and the first part of February studying for and taking the exam. Is there any way for her to better figure out her options before she finishes NCLEX?
