I am just starting to study for the American Government CLEP test. I was wondering if anyone who had taken this particular tests had any tips and the difficulty level of this test. The studying is harder than I thought it would be.

This one is a little harder than US History 1 & 2, but it is quite doable. Instantcert and the REA book are great resources for this test. Some additional free material:

I would also recommend the IC flashcards and the standard deviants videos. I found the videos at my library and yes, they are very corny, but I found them helpful. Be sure to know what all the amendments are about. Best wishes!

I took this test not long ago. I did not think that it was that difficult. My main study source was one of the study guides for the AP test in American Government. I would of been able to pass the test by studying just that book I believe.

I took this exam before I discovered this forum. I had used the Cliff's Notes American Government study guide. This test is one of the more difficult CLEP exams, but read and know the Cliff's Notes and you will do well.

PrLoko-isms Don't waste time by trying to save time. The only sure way to complete your degree is to knock out credits quickly and efficiently. Don't let easiness bite you in the rear. Know your endgame (where you want to be) and plan backward from there. Your education is a means to an end. Be honest professionally, socially and academically. There are people (especially little ones) who look up to you and they're going by your example. Be proud. Whether you're an Engineer or Fast Food worker, there is honor and dignity in hard work. Picking on people weaker than you only proves that you are a weak person.

The IC flashcards were wonderful! I only used those and reviewed my old high school textbook
. It might be helpful to read through the U.S. Constitution a few times as well, especially the Amendments.

I studied for this one by purchasing a used textbook on thriftbooks.com for about $4.00. Most of the resources available are good review, but they are no replacement for an actual textbook.
