Hi All...
I'm in desparate need of assistance from those who are familiar with Straighterline Comp 1. I have been networking with my Student Advisor all day and no one can figure out my problem.
I have been attempting to submit an essay assignment to Straighterline for days with no success. You should be able to copy and paste your document into the Submission Area - but when I paste my document into the designated box, it comes up in an incorrect format. Since formatting is part of the assignment (1" margins, etc.) I'm afraid to send it in as is. When I attempt to upload a copy of my essay directly and attach it as a File using the "Browse My Computer" box, the file is uploaded but I keep getting a message stating "do not attach". My Advisor and her co-workers can't figure out why this is happening, and suggest I just send the essay in as is and note my problem in the Comments box. I'm hesitant to do so, as I want to send it in properly formatted.
I've tried using both IE8 and Firefox - with no luck.
Can anyone help me??????
Thanks so much!!!

You might try performing a new save in a different file type. For example if written in MS word click save again and use the drop down box to save as say a "rtf or rich text file". Check the new file to be sure it's properly formatted and then re-submit.
That's where I would start at least.

I'm always happy to complete the free application waiver for those applying to WGU (I get a free gift from WGU for this). Just PM me your first/last name and a valid email so I can complete their form.

Thanks so much for your help - unfortunately, the rtf document still looked the same when I copied and pasted it into the Assignments Box, and when I attached the new rtf file it still says "do not attach". I am so frustrated....

pasting it makes no sense
there's no way it would keep any formatting
attaching is the correct thing to do, I don't know why you're getting that message

Hi,
My daughter says the "do not attach" always comes up but it does not mean you can't attach it. It is just there if you made a mistake and attached the wrong file. You can click on it and it will delete the file. Just ignore it, scroll down, and click submit and everything should be fine. I don't know why they designed it like that. It is very confusing.

If I click on the "do not attach" file I get a message box that says "Do Not Attach This File?" with 2 boxes to choose from - OK or Cancel. If I hit Cancel, the file disappears, if I hit OK, nothing happens. Is this the same thing that your daughter experienced? Does this mean the file really does attach?
I've been trying to solve this for over 4 days - no work getting done, just endlessly goofing around with the settings on my computer. I was about to call SL yet AGAIN, and then as a last resort pay to get my PC checked out by a computer company to see if they could figure out what on earth the problem is...If you can post a note back here and let me know if this really does seem like the same problem, I'd greatly appreciate it.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!!

Nope...but if the "Do Not Attach" message is really false, I may attempt to submit something for review...Do you get this message when you attempt to submit an assignment? Do you submit using the Browse My Computer button and leave the big text box empty?
Sounds like you're really progressing - I don't know how you do it! This class is turning my hair gray!:ack: (I love that little symbol:ack: - it looks EXACTLY how I feel!!!)

You do not need to click on "do not attach". Your file really is attached. You just need to scroll further down the page so you can see the submit button and then click submit. I hope this helps.
